Sorry, I forgot about the pic. Here is a pic without my intake in, I'm in the middle of a boost leak test.

Looking good :thumb:

I'm trying to source an extra wiring harness so I can start learning how everything goes before I tackle this project. :rocks:

Man I would love to do this, Im torn though. I have the engine and tranny out so it would be easiest to do it right now, but the only thing that sucks is I wouldnt know if I messed anything up until later when I put the motor in. It could really be a pain in the ass to have to unwrap wires and figure out where I messed up. I might pm you guys

Dont want to steel your thread but if people are looking for a different way to do this here it is.
80% of the wires fromt he fuse box go under the radiator, along the driver side fender and enter the car on the driver side. long story short I ran the wires inside the car instead of outside, and rewired the WHOLE engine bay. If you want more info you can PM me.

You used all new wire from a spool? :D You should post the more info instead of pming it so everybody can see. Hell, make a vfaq on it.

Ok I am interested in putting my battery in the hatch. I think i am making this harder then it has to be. I am going to take a guess at this and you guys can let me know if i am right. Basically you are just extending the negative and postive cables from the front of the car to the rear of the car. And just putting a fuse box in, so while those wires are extended it wont short out. Or do i have this completely wrong. Logically thinking it makes sense. But i just want to know. So if someone doesnt mind just make it a lil more simple. If thats the case its pretty simple. But i have a feeling its prob not. But you never know...

well you have to excuse me its kinda late. But yes of couse. But other than that, is that pretty much the jist of it. Just extend the positive cable to the front then... I have searched and came up with alot of info. But i am just trying to get a better idea on what i have to do..

Is battery relocationing hard to do in a 1g. And where should I get the battery reloctioning kit from? Should I get it from jegs or summitracing? What would be better.:dsm::talon::laser:

Unless you're swapping to a smaller battery (Odyssey, Braille, Honda 51 series) and relocating it to the subframe below the stock battery location then it's a bad idea. :D

Placing the battery farther away from the starter/alternator is never a good thing. Also to be safe and do any sort of racing you need to spend a bunch of money on a SEALED (read air-tight) battery box, then have it vented out of the car (Drilling holes in your body FTL!), THEN install HEAVY and expensive wire all the way to the front of the car, then come up with a way to solidly connect the wire to the stock wiring that doesn't look like complete crap. (Usually ends up being a ghetto looking nut/bolt combo wrapped in electrical tape)

Way too many then's if you ask me. Plus the only reason for doing this is for weight transfer to the rear wheels for drag racing, but unless your GSX is rear wheel drive then it is more beneficial to traction to keep the weight in the front of the car. Down low and close to the firewall just help for handling and braking as well. ;)

Unless he is making big power he isn't going to need all that. Yeah its good to have but, not required for even a 500hp car. If he was getting NHRA certified or something then yeah it would be. You can get kits for under 100. Or do it yourself for less. The hardest thing would be getting a sturdy place to put it in the trunk. It does make your engine bay look a hell of alot better. just my 2 cents.

You can try using a tractor battery. Its a smaller battery and cleans up the engine bay. Wal-mart sells them for 20 bucks.

Last time I was at the track with the Gaylant, with an Optima bolted down in the trunk, they told me I couldn't race.

And if by cleans up the engine bay a lot you mean leaves a huge awkward looking space where it looks like there should be something then yes you're right.

I'm more into the my car works better thing than the my car looks better thing.

EDIT: Here is a pic of my Talon with a 51Series battery mounted on the frame rail.

What did you do to mount the battery where you did? It is something I never considered doing.

well if thats pretty much the jist of it, whats the best way to mount it to the trunk. I really dont want to drill into the rear hatch, any help with that, and any ideas with on how to do this.. Would help.

I put some 1/4 foam with a sticky side on the frame rail and body so the case wasn't grounded out and to help with vibration. The battery fits perfect while JUST clearing the transmission and mount but with plenty of room for everything to move.

The battery "strap" is from a generic auto parts store. I drilled one hole in the lower sub frame so a J hook would fit in there. The top of the battery is perfectly level with the body so I just drilled and tapped a hole and put a bolt in there.

HA HA a better pic!

I remember at one point someone gave me an idea to do this to my car. I was actually thinking about it for a week or so, but then changed my mind and thought "hell naw, what the hell was I thinking?" :p

Just a "been-there" suggestion for relocated batteries...

Ground the battery to a good clean body/frame section (seatbelt bolt good). Running another ground up to the engine compartment isn't required and really only adds weight. (Assuming all your ground straps are good)

If you fuse the positive cable (very good idea), fuse it as close to the positive terminal of the battery as possible. If the positive cable shorts to ground before the fuse it will cause "unintentional welding" and various other fireworks...

Your right about the whole, But i would rather have a hole, then have a cluttered looking engine compartment. Everyone is going to have a different opinion on this. On a 2g it help outs a lot! I still have mine in the stock location, i am thinking about putting it where the charcoal canister is right now and use a smaller battery. If your car is a daily driver i don't really see any reason to do it, other then just to do it LOL.

I was thinking about relocating my battery too but i was afraid they wouldnt let me race at the track if i did so i left it alone. Plus it seems like too much extra work for me.:dsm:
