bad fuel cut problems

My bro and I both have the 97 eclipse gsx his is auto mine is manuel heres the problem.. fuel cut .. bad i have no idea why . His car is boosting to 16 psi and then getting bad feul cut we took it to a shop and they said in order to fix it it was going to need dsmlink and a wideband installed. Which is going to cost us a lot. I think there is a simpler fix. Could the wasgate be adjusted to tight? Or maybe we can intall a cheap nxs mbc an set it to stock boost levels to fix the problem?

Any ideas would greatly be appreciatede

Your profile says you should not be running 16 psi.Turn the boost down to 14 and go from there.

first what mod on his car? need to list them. second, how do you know your running 16 psi? reason I ask because you dont have a boost controller and I'm pretty sure that stock boost is around 9-12 psi.

The mods are purple greddy bov. Injen Intake and fmic. I know its boosting to 16 psi because we installed a boost gauge in his car. We get full spool around 3500 rpms and the gauge reads 16 before fuel cut

I can tell you, you have either a pre turbine exhaust leak or a boost leak.On a t25 you should be @16 psi by 3k rpms.So you do have issues.

Exactly that's why I'm confused as to why its overboosting so badly ? That's why I thought the stock wga is to tight or somthing.

Well your exhaust is probably causing the "overboosting issue".

The bolts not being tight may have caused a leak.Ending up as your t25 hitting 16 psi over 3k rpms. The t25 turbo is smaller than my 14b,and I get 14 psi @ 2300rpms. Do you See A problem there?

16 psi on a leak-free setup isn't gonna cause fuel cut with a t25. It just doesn't move enough air. Hell most people can run that on a 16g no problem.

Over boosting issue= probably your vac line is pulled off somewhere between the intake mani and waste gate, causing both problems

But i didnt think about a vac line being dissconnected. I was thinking the open exhaust was causing creep.My bad.

k. where did you tap you boost gauge? again check all the lines and better yet do a boost leak. when did this issue started?

Weve already done a boost leak test there is a small leak coming from vac line nothing major Throwing a cel now, wasgate failure.....

Bcs then. Bypass it with your vac hose and see if that gets you down to 12 psi or so

thats what I was suspecting is that your wastegate is not closing and not working properly. that will cause a boost creep and eventually fuel cut. thats what happened to my 16g.

Have you tried running a vacuum line straight to the wastegate from the boost port on the turbo?

You can get a new factory actuator here:
Garrett T25/T28 Wastegate Actuator

They can be found on eBay for much cheaper, but be aware that most will likely be set to 1 BAR, or 14-15psi.

If your vacuum line is not connected to your wastegate or leaking it will cause your turbo to boost uncontrollably make sure your vacuum hoses are good dosnt hurt to replace them anyway.
