I have been using my 91 GVR4 as my DD for a few days and have a new problem.

If I pull my parking brake up, the dash light flickers. The Walbro fuel pump is whining up and down. The headlights and tailights flicker as well.

I bet you have seen cars going down the road like this. I ran a VOM across the battery terminals and I am getting anywhere between 13.9 VDC to 14.2 VDC. back and forth. I tried my Subaru and the voltage stays rock solid.

My battery is new, the terminals are new and everything is tight.

There is no battery warning light on the dash though.

Does this seem like a bad alternator?

Thanks!

Thats what it seems like to me. My lights used to flicker, but it would vary with the rpm (bad voltage regulator). I changed out the alternator and the problem was solved

Thanks for that...mine doesn't seem to vary with the RPM...it flickers at idle or under load.

I will probably just swap it out, but I am a broke bastard these days so I am trying to get a feel! :D

Sounds pretty similar to mine though.

Lol, that is pretty concise! I won't hold you to it if not. I am convinced. Now it's time to spend a few hours trying to get the best price on a 90Amp GVR4 one.

I have a vented CF hood and it rained like hell the other day. I think that might have done it.

i change 3 alternators and still same OEM just work fine before die .
outside temperature more like 80F everything fine problem start on temperature below 78F dash and external lights flickering when engine is hot (ready to drive) everything back to normal any suggestion ???

You should see about swapping in a saturn alt. There's a 105 amp for about $75 here: SC/SL Series
