Awdmonster drag car

They used to be a street car but now I'm turning it into a dedicated drag car

At this point I’m doing inspections and fixing the issues.
After a very extensive investigation and review of the logs found that the injectors under flowing.
One injector under flowing-700 cc nothing was flowing correctly the ecu was trying to over compensate with the other 2 cylinders giving me
The target AFR 11.6 . However with 2 cylinders running lean the ethanol (ingnite red ) started pre ingniting (very bad) that caused the plug to melt.

To fix this I’m getting new injectors 2200 x 8
Egt all 4 cylinders new fuel regulator to handle the dual rail
Also doing direct port nitrous wet

For the motor this time im trying the Vulcan ring headgasket .

Don't take this the wrong way, but you are tearing up a lot of stuff for the power you make. My street car traps 112-114 in the 1/8 on truck stop E85 and the motor is virtually trouble free. I think you need to back her down a little bit and get a solid baseline established and make sure everything is right and makes sense. Having an injector that is 700cc off from the rest should be almost immediately noticeable. If it took you to melt down an engine you find that you need to put in a lot of work to learn how to spot that stuff before you tear hard parts up. You've gotten very lucky in the minimal damage you've had for fairly major issues I think.

The EGT probes are fine and all, but really by the time they show you something the damage is done. Did you pull the pistons/rods to check for pinched rings or rod bearings being pounded out?

If you keep increasing headgasket strength to try and keep abnormal combustion contained and ignore it, it's going to start pushing hard parts out. We don't have a limitless supply of blocks/heads anymore.

No offense taken,
At the end of the day it’s lack of fuel. The injectors were 9 years old I should have retired them.
Did check the piston it’ll pass for another season.

Totally understand the HG and hard parts situation

There is several things happening here since my last tear down. Big shot of Nitrous (120) doesn’t help I’ll unevenly distributed where 2 cylinder would get more than the others, add injectors messing up well that’s a recipe for disaster.
Maybe if i had twin scroll on this super 99 it would spool faster without having such a large shot. But I have v band 1.06 hot side makes it little laggy.
This is why I’m going direct port wet .

When i was checking out the log everything looked good fuel pressure target AFR was good on the 1/8 timing is 13 degrees was good and as soon as it reached 1000ft that’s when all hell broke loose.

As for the egt that would help me with diagnosis as I record every run with the auto log feature. I’ll be able to set a failsafe based on egt temps.

@bastarddsm i can email you a log if you wanna see it

It’s been a a long while since I updated some goals have been achieved!
Got my PB at the dsm shoot unfortunately on elimination round 1 my rear drum cracked.
This was done with a new turbo xona 7169 xre
On 45 psi.

So it looks like XONA is using PTE lingo now with their turbos? I didn’t think you would’ve cracked a rear drum with a “little” 71lb per/min turbo LOL, so are you able to source a billet rear drum? I know that was a Jeff Bush piece and with him completely out of the game now it would be cool if their was another source, anyway congrats on the PB and Merry Christmas:)

This xona can flow 120 lbs per min. They did change the lingo.

I actually have a Jeff Bush bullet drum that I’m having troubles installing due to the fact that it’s not concentric. It’s the most expensive piece of dead weight i have …. I did sent it out to get looked at to see if it can be fixed as Jeff bush left me on “read”
There is another fella making them just gotta save up

Good luck with it brother, I’m going to be buying up every high end part I can in 2025, I was hoping there’d ultimately be an additional source for certain parts other than a guy who never had a website and has been out of the game for like 6 years LOL

Hi guys Its been a while since I've posted long story short I cracked my block on cylinder 4. I was racing a fellow Dsm fella Ronnie Grant in San Diego and the motor left the chat.. Ill be posting more updates soon. Just taking a break and working on getting back out.

Did you at least win the race?

I wanna say no, I remember watching a race between him and Ronnie that Ronnie won, could’ve been a different race I don’t know, you know your making power when your cracking iron blocks LOL
