I have a 1992 Eagle Talon that the auto trans is bad in and I have a very good chance to pick up a 1991 Eagle Talon that is a manual trans. How hard will it be to pull out the auto trans from my 92 and put in the Manual trans from the 91?
The only thing that is missing out of the 91 is the motor. And the 91 has been sitting for almost 5 years.

Parts:
Pedal Assembly
Starter Plate
Flywheel
Clutch
Clutch Master Cylinder
Clutch Slave Cylinder
Master to Slave Line
Shifter
Shifter Cables and Bracket on Trans
Slave Cylinder Rod
REMOVE Pilot Bushing from rear of crankshaft (automatics only had them)
5 Speed front CV Shafts
5 Speed Rear Differential (different ratio than autos)
I think that is all, but if I have missed something, I AM SURE someone else will chime in.
Marty

I believe that whole list is on the 91 that I am picking up. But thank you for the list. I will be able to get a good look and see what is there and what is not in the next few days

Specifically, the starter plates are different and those usually travel with the engine. Make sure you have or get the correct one and don't forget to take the pilot bushing out of the rear of the crank. :thumb:

Well, lucky for you, they are still available and are not expensive. :thumb:
I hope the donor car has all that you need. Another note, shifter/cables should stay with the same trans so you shouldn't have any issues there either.

Youll have to drill out a hole for your clutch master, i did this swap a few years ago.
This is the worst part of doing the swap in my opinion. I think I had to cut out the hole for the shifter cables in the firewall too but maybe it was just a plate that unbolted. I do remember I had to make a plate to cover the hole for the automatic shifter cable that's in the exhaust tunnel.

Is this an AWD car? If so you'd also need to swap the rear differential out. The ratios are different from auto to manual. If its a FWD obviously this is irrelevant. Also don't toss the bad transmission out. Might be able to get a few bucks for it since parts are getting hard to find

It is a FWD. Thank you both for the good information. I will post pics when I can while doing it.

Do you no if the transmission from a 1997 3000GT will work in the 92 Eagle talon?

Small update. The pic's are of the parts car. It sat under a tree for almost 5 years. There wuz a tarp covering the back where the glass gat busted 2 years ago. only thing missing out of the car is the top half of the engine. There is no where on the car that says if it is the TSI or not. But if I look up the engine that is left in it. It shows it belongs to the 92 eagle talon TSI. I will no for sure in the next few days. I will say there is a custome sked plate under the parts car that covers everything

Unlikely. The internals may be similar if not identical but the bellhousing won't be.
On your donor car just run the vin. Or look at the cluster. Does it have a turbo gauge? If so unlikelybits an nt car. Turbo car will also have an f5m33 trans where nt has f5m22 or 21 if it's 1.8.

I am heading over to take a look in a few mins. I will msg back than with 2 more picks. one of the Engine and one of the dash

Just talked to the one I gat the car off of. He says it is FWD.. So If I am right I can use the trans to swap over to my good car. the parts car is a 91 and my other one is a 92. the 91 is a manual and it has all the parts I need to swap to my 92 that is a automatic.

But as you can see from the picks what he did to that poor car

The turbo is sitting there so it's obviously a turbo car

Btw the ecu, turbo and exhaust manifold are all different auto to manual ONLY on a 1g. You can leave the auto stuff but if you plan to run the 14b turbo you will want the rest.

Looks like I will not be swapping it over to a manual. The car is for my wife and she has changed her mind and wants me to try and find a auto transmission for it. Only prob is there are nun within 300 miles from me. And most anywhere I have seen online do not have one that will fit
