Found a great deal on a 95 RS, only problem is it has an auto, which sucks... I already have plans on putting a 6 bolt turbo in, while I'm at it I was wondering what it would take to do the trans swap from auto to manual, I checked the vfaqs, and the link http://www.ecanfix.com/~mdhamilton/autotomanual.html is dead... soo... does anybody have a copy, or a thread, or a howto somewhere on this?

What parts would I need, how hard would it be, the 95 is only $300 and the engine is "making a funny noise from the bottom end" so I figure with the automatic, hopefully it would last a while before the crank finished walking (as I'm sure that's what it's probably doing) and I could get a 6bolt and trans built before it died (and if not, I don't need to drive it, I've got 3 other good running cars and a truck)

I know it's not the GSX I would like to find, and putting AWD in it would be a waste of money, but I can't stand automatic trannies in DSMs.

How do you feel about Neon motors ;)

2G N/T's have the 420A the Neon uses. Swapping in 4G63 would be.. well, way more work that I would wish to complete. That $300 price would prolly be more then made up by the time you finished.

And that doesn't even begin to detail it. That's the site I referenced when I planned to swap my '93 AWD auto to a M/T. This site details a swap from a 1G FWD to a 1G FWD, the same engine (essentially) is used. The biggest thing, the 420A is mirrored from a 4G63, the trans is on the drivers side. Doing all the mods to swap in a turbo motor, much less switching from an A/T to a M/T isn't a feat I'd wish on anyone.

what do you mean about your crank walking??? IF you have an rs then you have a neon motor and crankwalk is the least of your concerns. And NO ... a 6 bolt won't swap right in.

I don't know about the crank walking, they said there was noise coming from the bottom end of the engine, I haven't even gone to see the car yet, was just wondering if it was even worth my time... looks to me like it's not...

...and I didn't say swap right in... nothing is that simple when it comes to cars... just wanted to know if it would be value minded... doesn't appear to be... sounds like it'd be cheaper for me to find either a GST or a GSX... so that's what I'll do. Thanks guys.
