Im puting in arps for first time and was wondering if the studs block or use and oil or water jacket ports. Should i put thread sealer on studs? Reason i ask is because a stud hole seaped out oil when i put stud in... and also some holes seaped out antifreez? Looks like the stud hole on the intake side closest to timing belt has a port on side of stud hole. I wouldient think they would use a stud hole for pasage of oil or water but just want to make sure

Thanks in advance..

Clean out the holes where your putting your studs into as well. I just stuck a thick napkin in there to pic up all the grime and then blew into them to clean it out. Like he said above, all you need to use is the assembly lube that was supplied in the arp box

Actually yes. One of the holes for your head stud is also the oil port for your head. I didn't re-read his whole thread but it is covered here http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/341028-4g63t-head-oil-port-mod.html

Bogus also has oil mod 2 which may be exactly what your looking for and can be found in that thread.

You might want to take advantage of that first mod. It's free, quick, and easy. It could save you trouble down the road so why not

okay so the studs don't share any passages of oil or water?

I put thread sealer n all off studs . Which port is oil port?

You do not need to use the ARP moly lube when install the studs into the block. A little dip into some oil will suffice. ARP's are drop in and do not require modification unless your doing 2g head on a 1g block.

Top left when your looking at the front of the block is the oil feed to the head, hand tight with oil or the arp lube like previously stated. Should look into that oil mod #1 a lot of ppl do it just to clear up possible problems down the road.

One guy said that there is an oil port on one of the studs i have thread sealer on all 10 studs. Will it hurt anything if they are sealed up. Others say put nothing in there amd molly lube on top studs-which i did. So do i need to take head off and clean studs off now since there is an oil port with one stud? I have a 7 bolt head and block.

Skimmed, and apologies if I missed this, but you are right...but the torque spec changes from moly to oil.

You should not need thread sealant either. The head bolt ho;es in the block of a 4G63 are blind, they do not open into a coolant or oil passage.

On a 420a block I do not know.

If when you install the ARP, and you are pushing oil or coolant out, then you did not clean the holes properly.

Remove the studs, clean the sealant from the stud threads.

Clean the bolt holes with brake clean, compressed air and a old head bolt.

Now that all the studs and holes are clean. Just a drop or two of oil on the block side threads of the studs and install finger tight.
