I just picked up a built block from a kid who screwed it up and got frustrated. The problem is, there is a 6 bolt block and a 7 bolt head that WASN'T bored out for the ARP head studs. They forced the studs through by forcing the head on then tightening up the bolts. Now I'm stuck with the head studs stuck between the block. Its on there pretty good right now, the bolts come off so i cant unscrew the stud with the bolt. Ive thought about using a cherry picker and trying to pull the head off that way, ive also thought about a way of drilling the head studs out. Can someone let me know if they experienced a situation even remotely close to this. Any help is appreciated.

As long as he didnt put the studs in upside down, there should be a 5mm allen key head on the top of the stud, youll just have to take them out one by one.

Anytime i have done a 7 bolt head on a 6 bolt, i just reamed them with the next biggest size drill bit that fit in the hole, not 100% necessary to take to a machine shop, usually ends up with a nice snug fit and works like a charm.

I dont no how they got it on. There are some metal shavings around the holes so id imagine it was just forced on. And some holes are free just some arent. One of the studs seem to be stripping when i tried to take it out of the head.

I wonder how they were able to make it fit. Maybe they did drill it, just not enough. But yeah, remove the head studs one by one.

If you put them in one by one you can get them on....ive done it before but ended up drilling the holes anyways because some were TIGHT fit, and it didnt sit well with me.

Get as many out as you can, the less in there the easier itll be.

Its kind of misleading, beacuse when you try and put a 6 bolt stud in a 7 bolt head hole, they seemingly fit with a bit of room, but when you have a few in there at once, the scenario changes a bit.
