apex i safc2 or gm 3inch with maft?

so i have got my 660 injectors, 190 fuel pump, mbc, and my big 16g is in the mail! i currenlty have the 02 housing and manifold off to do some port work, my question is what to tune it with? i ordered my logging cables and software but i am stuck on tuning devise? what will be better a apexi safc 2 or gm maf with maft translator( i know nothing about this set up but would learn) or is there other options out there? i am only looking to get 300 whp outta the set up input any one? allso link me to wear your suggetion could be found!
 
The MAFT wont give you as good of a tune as the safc will, but both combined will be better than the safc alone.

Make sure you have a wbo2 as well
 
I would look into Greddy Emanage. It gives you a way better fuel control than both the maf-t or safc. It also gives you timing control with the harness so large injectors can be run since you just have to pull timing out. Usually the whole thing can be found cheap used.

If you cant find it used and scared to learn how to use it than the maf-t/safc setup is pretty good. Just dont run over those 650cc injectors.
 
If you get a maft gen 2 it has more tuning ability then an safc. It can make 1/2% adjustments in 400 rpm increments while the safc can only make whole percent adjustments.

As well as the ability to control timing, however I'm unsure how to do it.

why I'm running 750 with no problems
 
i currentlly am running the 3" gm maf with translator and dsm link... i dont like the gm maf vary much because it runs different depending on what the weather is like, probiblly caused by not having a barometrec pressure sensor anymore... although the maft seems to come in handy when tuning with link. just my 2 cents.
 
A while back I happened to run across a gen2 translator with the maf for 50bucks :D

Before I was running s-afc alone, the maf-t allows definitely has it perks. (especially adding the ability to set base injector size and finetune off the afc right out of the hole.)
 
short answer. SAFC-II will allow better tunning than the MAF-T. MAF-t is not needed with the 2g MAS that flows quite well.
 
+1 on that I'm running fic 750 with that combo on one of my 1g's talons tsi.

Well its a good rule of thumb when running pump gas. 2g's have a weak timing curve and can usually get away with larger injectors. 750's would be the max on a safc without a chiped ecu.

but I'm also running methonal injection. And it's a 1g.
 
From the research I have done I planned on going with a gm maf and the maft gen2. With the gm maf your able to get rid of that egg shaped pain in the ass and run a normal 3 in cone, or a 3 in cone in a colder air location. Also you can run the gm maf after the I/C as a blow-by which makes it versatile. If tuning wasn't easy enough for you adding the afc is still possible.

to the OP Like the people above said go with the maf Gen II
I've used all the Maf-t products and the Gen II to is a nice peace
you can use just about any maf you would like also...
