General Anyone personally installed a black box ECU in a 95?

Ok this is what I'm working with. It's a 95 Eclipse GST that came with a EPROM ECU. I threw a 98 black box ECU in there and go to start it but I get nothing. It turns over but there is no fuel pressure or anything.

I know there is a thread on here about tuning one. But they don't go into detail about what all is needed to make it work in a 95. Only thing it covers is the flash plug. I have been looking everywhere for a solution but can't seem to find one.

I did find it a few guys swapped to a 1g CAS because it works better with Tactrix. I have one waiting to install I just need the pigtail for it. I'm wanting to try and make it work as is. I'll go through the trouble of installing the CAS once I can get the ECU to fire up the car.

So my question is if I need to swap any wires on the harness or am I missing something completely?

the firing order is different between the 2. for the most part everything should be the same. check your fuses or see if you're getting anything to the sensors. no power to the sensors is an engine or efi fuse blown. invert the firing order to. no fuel pressure is usually a sign of a bad efi relay, bad pump, no ecu signal or bad crank sensor. put the ignition in run and with a test light see if you're getting power to all the sensors

I have installed flash based ECU's in several 95' cars, swap the plug wires and it should work fine. Are you sure that you don't have a Spyder(c) ECU? Ihey are setup differently when it comes to commanding the fuel pump relay on and wont work in a regular DSM without some wiring mods.

I know the fuel pump and sensors are good because I can put the original EPROM ECU back in and it runs fine. I don't know about the Spyder ECU though.

Ok, so it's not a Spyder ECU. Suggestions?

I don't know if you'll get it to run with a 95/96 CAS. The signal is inverted. I'd reccomend swapping the CAS before swapping the ECU as you can adjust for that by re-ordering your spark plug wires. See the link below.

Once you get that worked out, you can swap the ECU and put the wires back to stock and know all the sensor input is correct. At that point, either the ECU is bad, or there is some kind of wiring difference between the 95 and the black box ECU.

Good luck man, I'm looking to do the same switch over next week. Mine has a 2GB CAS installed already though.
