I think before the economy took a shit you would have been ok. Now Army recruiters don't need to kill themselves to get someone in. Sucks... but when there is no jobs available everyone thinks the military is an easy out.

Brother I know how you feel, I was medically discharged and got a good job when I left To everyone serving I know at times we think that the civilians back in the states don't care and they just say thank you just to say it, but I'm a witness to the love that the civilians have for all of us, Navy, Marines, Air Force and The greatest of all the ARMY HOOAH!!! jk were all equal and we all fight for a good cause, even tho it was all a lie in the first place to go to war, but we have not only showed the people of the greatest country ; United States of America, that we are good at what we do, but we have shown the world that we are a force to be reckoned with and that we a quick to fight for other countries for the freedom of there people... 91P(formerly 63D) - field artillery systems mechanic here. Ive been in the Utah guard for just under 8 years now. I think that it was kind of the spark that started my love for anything motorized. Weve got some brilliant minds in the maintenance sections around the state that Ive been deeply thankful for teaching me things over the years. I did a tour back in 2005-2006 stationed in Ar Ramadi and am headed back in the next few months. Super excited to go but not wanting to leave the garage at the same time.

I'm a 92Y and 92F. I'm a Sergeant (E5) in the national guard. June 2011 will be my 8 year mark. I did a year tour in Kosovo in 2006-2007 and I just got back from a tour in Iraq in Aug 2010. It was hot! We were in Tallil near An Nasiriyah. I had a thermometer that read indoor and outdoor temps. I had the outdoor sensor in the shade and it pinged 132 degrees. My buddy put his in the sun and it pinged 150.2 degrees! There is no cool breeze, it feels like a hot hair dryer when the wind blows . The sandstorms are insane too! Our base got a rocket attack once and the rocket hit the gym about 100 meters from my CHU (containerized housing unit), and that was my last day at the gym ! But other than that, Iraq isn't that bad.

You need to score a 35 to be infantry.. Thats basically like a D- in school..


Do something that amounts to a future.. Because infantry will do nothing for you when you decide to get out. You may be all "Oohrah" about it now but when you realize you have no future and your going to be shot at, you will change your mind
