was a 0311 in the marines, did my 6 years in the reserves and alittle over 2 and a half years on active duty training and being deployed. havent decided on re enlisting or not....

15T Here. Been in for 16 years and going to retire at 20 if the Army will let me. I'm getting ready to head back to Afghanistan again this summer with the MEDEVAC. Nothing personal but in my line of work, I hope I never see any of you while I'm overseas.

You need to score a 35 to be infantry.. Thats basically like a D- in school..


Do something that amounts to a future.. Because infantry will do nothing for you when you decide to get out. You may be all "Oohrah" about it now but when you realize you have no future and your going to be shot at, you will change your mind

I completely understand your point.

My recruiter told me in order to get into Infantry I need to score an 80 on the ASVAB. Any Marines in here, feel free to correct that if my recruiter is wrong.

I know for a fact it just changed from 32 to 35 to be a infantryman in the Corps.

I know fellow EOD techs that didnt score an 80 on the ASVAB and my job is 80 billion times harder than that.

Man, if you could find me a link stating that it's changed, that would be great. Why the heck would he tell me 80? I understand he wants me to score high but still.

Yea man, I can only imagine how much harder your job is. You're working with explosives for crying out loud. Major respect to you and everyone else in the service.

Once I graduate from my CC I'm enlisting in the Nuclear Field for the navy. That is unless someone gives me a better idea, anyone? My AFQT was 93, and I'm not sure about my line scores, but I know I had three perfect tests.

I think it's talking about the line scores not the AFQT which doesn't go about 100. I think the marines want a QT score of at least 50 right now.

Well if its line scores intended then they should specify... I maxed out my GT

True it doesn't explicitly say that those are line requirements, but it says the USMC bases job placement on lines. And the QT only goes to 99 right?

EOD huh? I know the army gave me that option, along with air traffic control and watercraft operator.

But how honest are they? If I enlist and they promise me a job at MEPS, will I truly be getting that job if I do good in basic? Or will I only be trained for the position if there is an opening?

You will get it. And if you do what I do, you are the most elite in the armed forces

A year and a half of training at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama and Eglins Air Force Base in Florida.

You can do anything with demolitions in the civilian sector.

I am currently in the Air Force. I am a SrA with just over 3 years in. AFSC of 2A353. Tactical Aircraft Maintenance. (i.e. F-15, F-16, F-22, F-35... so on and so forth)
