Ive been trying to find any tips on this and keep sifting thru piles of tips for tensioning the main timing belt...

I want to now if anyone has any tips on tensioning the B timing belt to spec... I dont want to jack up the pulley by prying on it and I can only get it so tight by pushing up on it with my fingers... any help???

Thanks!

And id like to add that im looking for tips that do NOT include removing the balance shaft... Im not a super huge fan of added vibration and Im not trying to push high numbers thanks!

On the vfaq forum it says to pry it up till the belt on the top is in the center pf the bolt right behind it. Good luck and Im glad i saw this because im keeping my b.s as well but I dont know how to align the sprocket. Its not like the other one thats being pulled by the main tbelt where you can chexk by inserting a screw driver. Please help me as well! If i align it, it can either be lined up but wrong or lined up and correct. thanks in advance

Yea Im just nervous about prying the pulley with anything ### I dont want to take a chance on warping it or anything... I have it on as tight as I could get it with my fingers... maybe by letting it sit there the belt will set/stretch enough for me to tighten it up tomorrow or the next day when I go to finish the belt job...

But its my first one... so who knows ha
I almost didnt put lock tite on any of the pulley bolts either, but good thing I came across a random thread mentioning that its a good idea to use... it will hopefully save me from having to go back in later and redo it all...

*fingers crossed*

Usually a small tip is to see if you can twist the belt on the long side between sprockets a quarter turn.

If you can twist more than a quarter turn, then the belt is too loose and if less than a quarter turn, then too tight.

Or, if you want to do a measuring stick method, a quarter inch deflection when you press down on the middle of the belt between sprockets - if you can press more than a quarter inch..too loose, and less..too tight.

This usually is the norm for all tooth belt driven devices.

thank you

my main concern was I cant get the offset bolt to line up how it shows in the vfaq walkthru... its below being level with the center but not as far as it shows in the picture /not as far as it was when i took the old pulley off

Ill just worry about the belt tension itself tho it seems like that should be my main focus
