LOL Okay okay, sorry I mentioned shep, I'm just saying, I like to have fun with a car on the street and the best thing is AWD. Track, yeah I understand the whole 9in. rear end and everything, and if this is really breaking what you say it does, I wanna see some dyno sheets! What in the world is this thing putting down after the drivetrain!!

Even Shep still breaks stuff. :) Brian wanted a bulletproof driveline with this car, so that's why it was built the way it was. Prior to this, the car ran a straight-cut gear tranny, Tilton carbon/carbon clutch, Shep t-case, and a carbon fiber driveshaft. He burned up a dozen clutches before switching to the Tilton. And he broke several rearends before switching to the 9". Then he started to break Shep t-cases. It was cheaper to switch to the stronger RWD set-up, rather than constantly replace that high-end AWD stuff.

How did you get the Ford 9" to work with a DSM transmission?

I opened this thread thinking it wasn't going to be tasteful but I'm in shock. I actually love this build. The manifold, turbo system, frame mod's. It's amazing. More updates :)

Once the rearend is in place, you'd just need to shorten up the driveshaft, and run a 3:55 ratio ring & pinion in the rear, and you'd be all set.

The transmission and transfer case doesn't know which rearend the car has, and it doesn't care either. So, as long as the gear ratios match, the various driveline components will all work well together.

Nice build, how much did those billet knuckles run ya? and does the main supports attached to the shock towers attach to the cage inside the car or stop at the firewall?
Brian (becool) will have to chime in on what stuff costed. The front spindles, brakes, and suspension was one big package. All of the tube work under the hood connects to the tube work in the cabin.

You can see some of it in this pic:

Normal price on that package is $2700 from aerospace that includes brakes rotors 2 way adjustable struts knuckle hub assembly. Troxel can get you a better price though.

the upper bars are connected to the cage and there is a bar going across behind the dash as well.

Thanks for the info. That price seems very reasonable for a nice one off piece like those. That pic above showed exactly what i was looking for. I figured these cars couldnt be front halfed like some old schoolers ive seen.

Im starting my own rwd 2g eclipse street conversion. As for the rear end, Ill be using a Carrie track 9 rear end and for the transmission a Hurst TKO 600 5speed. The 4G63T engine will be mated to the transmission with bill hincher custom bellhousing. Im in line for the custom bellhousing to be build, so hopefully Ill have the bellhousing late August, stay tune for further details as thr build progresses. Ill open a blog about the build as soon as the car is taken to the chassis shop for the custom front suspension setup, engine/trans mounting, rear end and rear suspension mounting, and roll bar fabrication...

Here's the only pics I have. These are almost two years old, back when it was still AWD.

Is that an 8.8"?

Bad news update. :(

Some theives recently broke into this car and stole alot of stuff. If anyone sees the turbo and/or radiator/water pump combo for sale anywhere, get ahold of me asap. Chances are that they won't be selling any of it on any DSM forums though. They also took the JM Fab drag manifold, which has a distinct notch on the underside of the plenum to clear the chassis. They purposely left the header, probably because it would be nearly impossible to sell it to anyone under the radar.

If you guys see any of this stuff on eBay or craigslist, please shoot me a PM. Thanks.

Wow, that really sucks. Good luck getting at least some of it back.
