i got back my rebuild yesterday and the shit is not anywhere near what i was dreaming about the last 2 months.
here was the chain of events.
old turbo seizes , causing huge oil problem and leaving me with a car that dosnt go over 20 mph .
im forced to drive on it for lack of other transportation for about 200 miles
i buy a almost mint condition turbo and have it installed
20 miles down the road i hear a knocking . drive it home another 10 miles and send it out to the shop
bought a rebuild from dsm graveyard
had it instaled
have only drove 20 miles but im getting alot of white smoke in park .
mechanic tells me that the turbo has shaft play now.
the turbo was a solid rebuilt turbo at least it looked .
zero shaft play , i just dont get how running 20 miles on a cranking engine could destroy a new turbo . think the mechanic swapped it?
and the engine is still getting really hot , like scolding hot . is this normal for dsms even a rebuild?
