Need help since my alternator doesn't seem to charge. New 75a alternator with new connections and it doesn't seem to charge, at the most it's maybe just keeping the battery at 11.6 which can dip down while driving. I figured it would be smart to upgrade to the Galant 90a (I have one on order) but I feel the stock one should at least charge it up like every other car I've owned.

Any help would be great, possibly a diagram for the 4pin connector on the alternator so I can verify that it's wired properly, otherwise I'm stumped.

parts store rebuilt alternators for our cars have a 50% failure rate. most times the parts have been on the shelf for over 15 years and can be bad out of the box (regardless of what brand you get) even the galant alternators have a high failure rate.

try checking the simple things first, make sure the alternator fuse is not popped in the underhood fuse box

Gotcha, I remember reading that somewhere but this is my 3rd alternator on the car since the original got soaked in ps fluid and the second one got hot and melted 🫤.

It does seem to do something since I've driven it probably 30 miles without charging the battery and it hasn't died or gone below 11.4 on dsmlink, I know that is very low. Which on a fully charged battery above 12.4 (alternator disconnected) it only idled for 15 minutes before dying.

Yes. It should go on when you first turn the key to On (not Start position) when engine not running yet.
Okay, that makes more sense now LOL. The light does work it came on when I popped my headlight fuse the other day.
