I searched but didnt quite find the answer...I tried all the suggestions but nothing still.....My car died on the highway(battery died while driving) and I got it home replaced the alternator with a new one, and tried 3 different batteries....I also got the alternator tested twice and it tested good. I checked the alternator fuse too and the pigtail going to the alternator from the engine harness and it seems good. The battery just slowly dies over about 5min of idling once it gets a full charge.....I dont know what else to check
thanks

Im thinking of maybe just running a new wire from the alternator power bolt to the fuse box alternator hook up....I believe the wire just goes from alternator into the harness then into the fuse box then battery correct? and if it still doesent charge it has to be the pigtail connection or maybe last resort the alternator is bad and the tests werent performed correctly

Sounds to me like you may have a wire that is touching somewhere draining the battery. There is definitely something touching as if not your battery would stay charged longer than 5 minutes even if the alternator was faulty.Ive always called it a dead short but I'm unsure if that's the correct terminology or not.It could also be a loose or missing ground wire.

Look At Your Fuse Block In The Engine Bay Maybe Underf It A Wire Came Loose From One Of The Fuses I Had This Happen To My 1st Gen Eclipse A Few Years Back And It Was Just One Of The Wires Under The Fuse Block

I have no Idea...I checked mostly all possible shorts/wires/fuse box and still dies after running for a couple minutes....probably end up taking it in somewhere..

alright new plan.....re wire the feed to the fuse box and then to battery and ground the alternator with a wire...if this doesent work it HAS to be the alternator......maybe autozone and advance suck balls at testing anything multiple times.......I had to go through 3 starters from advance before I got a good one.....I guess it almost pays to buy OEM parts online

Recheck the alternator. It sound like one of the wires is bad. or not connected properly. Go into autozone and get a manual, and just look to see how its supposed to be wired.

Something is seriously wrong. I've driven the car for at least 30 mins after charging it to make it home after the alternator had died. I had driven with the AC, fan on high and radio blasting for who knows how long before the car died and I needed the charge to get home.

If yours is only lasting 5 mins you either have a major drain, bad battery, or it's not really charged.
