Are you just ignoring science here on purpose? Now granted, I read Fox and CNN and MSNBC, amongst others, and I take all three with a large grain of salt, but to assume that no one knows approximately how much oil is left is to completely ignore sound science, IMHO. I didn't get my oil information from any news site for what it's worth - I worked with geologists from Dong Energy whose job it was to calculate oil quantities and location... almost always they are precisely on the dot. I also have a friend that worked for Royal Dutch Shell as a geologist on staff. Their job is to know exactly how much oil there is and at what depth to find them at - it's what they are paid to do. It's not an Earth Dipstick as you so say - it is geology, and it is quite accurate. The bottom line is that everything that everyone knows or believes is information that has to have come from somewhere. It is always prudent to scrutinize everything you are told, but scrutiny can quickly become paranoia if you dismiss everything without research. The results from said scrutiny should be the determining factor for whether you accept what you are told..

What Im Saying is Most people who talk about this topic just repeat stuff they hear on TV....I know there is NO earth Dipstick Bro...It was sarcasm. A guy I work with used to deliver fuel to gas stations...and he said in the 70's they had Oil Tanker ships docked at sea FULL of oil and they would HOLD it there till demand was higher...THUS driving up price.

All I can say Is Im all for the future and what it brings...I think US car makers need stricter rules...Then maybe they can actually compete with the Import cars instead of building more Retro v8 Muscle cars that get 10 miles to the gallon.

Nobody will have the same opinion about things. We all were raised differently and have different life experiences that makes up who we are as individuals.
Im happy your buisness is improving since Obama has been in office. However I dont see how you can attribute that to his policys unless you have some govt contract that helped your buisness with the stimulus garbage he has done.
The simple fact of this depression is that it happens! The way buisness works there is nothing anyone can do about it. Buisness is based on greed. When greed is involved eventually the bottom will fall out because people overextend. Companies increase the prices because people will buy. People buy because they want more.(even if they cant really afford it) Once the consumer finally runs out of credit or savings or whatever makes him believe he can afford it then the economy falls. Its a pretty simple cycle that repeats over and over.
Oil is something that is made out to be way more problems than it really is. We have so much oil right here in the U.S its rediculsa. But our govt wants to hold it so that maby one day we will have the monopoly on it. Thats retarded. Were giving foreign countries and foreign companies power over our economy.
Rush Limbaugh is an extremist in my mind but that doesnt mean that the guy dont have alot of very valid points and knows what he is talking about on alot of subjects. Do I like him? Obama is not the savior of the country. No president will be. His policys may help in some ways and may hurt in others. What we need is a rebuilding of state and federal government that puts the rights and freedoms back in the hands of the people.
What most people dont realize is that the more the govt. "gives" us in programs and "benifits" the more they take from us in our basic rights as americans. The Govt should only invest in public well being. Not welfare or free medical care. Thoes programs should be reserved for children disabled and people who have contributed to this country by working at some point in life. Too many people want something for nothing in this country.
Alot of people will read this and say im wrong and all americans are entitled to a good life. I ask this. WHY? Because your an american? I feel that you should contribute to a system if your able bodied and minded if you expect something in return. If you went to work for taco bell you wouldnt get a paycheck if you never showed up. So why should being an american ENTITLE you to free healthcar or free rent or food?
The govt cannot support all these programs and continue to be a viable entity. Look at California. That state has it so bad that they are cutting public education by millions. Public education is the last thing they should cut. If you dont educate you end up with a bunch of lazy and stupid citezens who will continue to expect a free hand out. If we dont stop this madness soon then the whole country will follow California into the trash heap it is becoming.
The govt needs to stay out of the running of private buisness. Other than to have a few regulation that effect product safety and to keep people from getting scammed but bs repair shops or pyramyd schemes. Get rid of the failing ss system. If you want a retirement then save for it. Its difficult to do at first but after your used to putting money aside its not hard.

Do I think Bush was GREAT? No. But I also dont think he did too bad except for the fact that he cannot read a speech very well. But you have to remember that he wasnt the sole power to enact that horrible policy. he will be a scape goat for anything that happened during his term that went poorly, just like any other president. But If you think Im crazy or wrong on my statements about the govt. getting too involved in our day to day lives then just look at Cali. Now look at the history of the policys and public services passing in that state then followed by other states and the federal government. Now look at Californias economy and how it has progressivly gotten further and further in debt and the people have allowed more and more of their freedoms to be taken away under the assumption that its better for the masses. The federal government has been mirroring this system at a slower pace but it is catching up at an alarming rate.

One example of the govt telling us what to do. Ca. passes a law that says restaraunt and other buisness owners no longer hav the right to decide if patrons will be allowed to smoke on their own private property. Not too long later, several other states follow suit. The a couple years Ca. tried to pass a law that says you cannot smoke in your car OR outside in YOUR OWN YARD! Im not sure if that one passed or not because I left Ca. before it was voted on. My point here is that if its privately owned property who is the government to tell you if you can smoke a cigarette on it. As far as a restaraunt goes yes smoking is a health hazard. But imo if you dont want to be arround it then go somewhere that you dont have to deal with it. The owner of a private establishment shouldnt be told he cannot allow a legal substance on his property.
We are AMERICANS. We are not mindless idiots who need the federal or state government to tell us what is good or bad for us AND THEN tell us that since its bad we cannot have it. If it contributes to criminal behavior then make it a harsher charge but If there is no crime in the first place then who cares what I do to my self? Well then people say the rest of us pay for your medical expenses. That is another problem. If your able bodied then get a good job and pay your own way. If your living off the govt then well you should be made aware that if you do harm to yourself then your not covered. PERIOD!
The current system allows too many people to scam and get something for nothing. My own sister is an example of this garbage. She gets welfare and state insurance. But because of the state assistance she REFUSES to even try to get a good job because she might loose her free insurance, rent, and foodstamps. How is this productive for the country as a whole? There are 100's of thosands of people doing this if not millions across this country.
The system now pays out too much and there is not enough tax to keep up with the demand today. So do we Tax the working people EVEN MORE? Or take away the programs that cost the contributors so much and give to the loafers that dont even try to contribute?

On the original subject of mandating mpg on a vehicle. Buisness is buisness. Let them build what they THINK will sell. If the customer likes it it will sell and then IF we deplete the worlds supply of petrolium then we can blame ourselves. If you force a company to hold a standard that the customer dont want or dont care about then that company will fail. Either way let the big 3 prosper or flop on their own. There are plenty of current companys that an fill the void and Im sure that the U.S. automotive Industry will benifit in the end either way. It may just end up being under a new unheard of manufacturers name.

If you think Im not a man because I dont believe in some of the current or former presidents polocys the thats your right. But let me ask you something. Have you put your ass on the line for the people of this country or any other country? If you havent then please think about what you calling a man. As a soldier I have all the same stuff to gain or lose as any othe citizen, plus one. I stand a fair chance of dying over what our govt. does. I still follow my orders and go where Im told and do what I have to to get the job done. A big difference between soldiers today and during WWII is the amount of info training and education the overall average soldier has today is much higher than in WWII. Todays soldier has a much better grasp on the overall picture. Any time you have better educated and informed soldiers you will hear more of them disagreeing with official policy. I do this job because I believe this is the best damn country in the world. Not because of who sits in the oval office. I just dont agree in some of the policys our govt. has come up with. I was originally in the army while Clinton was in office and let me say IT SUCKED! I came back at the end of Bushes first term and it has gotten much better except for being at war and the lack of dicipline in the new soldiers fresh out of basic. Im still waiting to see how Obama effects military life.

I agree completely with what your saying. The problem is that these programs enable these types of dirt bags to continue on like that. I get tired of hearing I cant. There are plenty of opportunitys out there you just need to try. Maybe a small percentage really cant but that is a very small amount out of the people who abuse the system. See man, Im NOT trying to instigate anything??? You are being way too paranoid or something man. I don't want to argue with you. Im just saying my point of view...am I not allowed to do so?

It wouldn't drive jobs anywhere if we put a huge Tax on import items. And penalize these companies for going out of the country. Then they will have to come build their shit here and with the proper Pollution controls.

Like Mitsu,Toyota and Honda. They all build cars here and they dont break any pollution laws. Yet GM is all made in Mexico and canada and they still cost more cause of their poor business practice.

If you watch the video I posted you will see that our average fuel economy of the Internal combustion engine has Increased...however we keep making BIGGER heavier cars that use the same if not MORE fuel in the end haha. We need to seriously consider the future man...I know its way easier to say FU*K it cause i won't be here in 100 years, but thats not right.

I know you guys ALL disagree with me but that's just my point of view...please don't not flame me and pick apart my post.
