form your guys experience and for the gurus. how big is the difference am i looking. i dont daily drive the car but when i used to have my old setup which is

safc
560 evo injectors
stock cams
ebay big 16g

i can squeeze 23-27mpg if not boosting and about maybe 19 when i do boost. i recently upgraded to

dsm link v3
720cc injectors
hks 264/272 cams
mhi evo3 big 16g ported

is there gonna be a big drop in mpg? even if im not boosting or keeping it at 4500rpm? i am getting it tuned so i know it will be more efficient than what my old safc setup is. also with WOT, what mpg am i expecting, this is using 91 octane. thanks

My mpg increased 2-3mpg average, after the tune. Even though I went with bigger injectors and cams. My right foot affects mpg more than anything else.

Keep in mind our cars did IIRC 18-22 mpg from the factory... .

With a bigger set of injectors in Most cases you end up with a much better spray pattern then the single pintle injectors that 1g's have stock or the dual ones the 2g's have. In turn you get much better atomization of the fuel with most injectors and with a good tune somewhere in that range (without a lead foot) is not out of the question.

It's been a long time since I ran gas in 1g but I have got on a regular bases keeping out of boost 28-30 mpg hwy. And get as high as 24 on Ethanol. :)

did you have the same setup?

I did a few different upgrades (gsc s2 cams, bigger fuel pump, injectors, etc...) within a short time, but the turbo, manifold, exhaust, etc.. stayed constant.

You'll probably get better fuel economy just because the engine is breathing better (cams) and the tune (assuming a proper good tune).

Check out my mods - they are close to yours

Stock I ran about 26 mpg average. Now I run about 24 mpg average. However, I find it a lot harder to keep my foot off the gas now, it goes along with that sh1t eating grin.....

I'd agree mpg is largely dictated by your right foot. The setup/tune will probably make a minimal difference.

I agree, I get better gas mileage now than I did before and my car is still on a factory tune. With the 264's and the fp manifold and evo3 itm. Car also moved when I stop on it though.

If the car is moving when you stop, that sounds like a major braking issue. Or maybe you have the pedals messed up?

How do you granny shift an auto?

Just like you do in a stick.Shift low in the rpms, so take 1st to 4k, 2nd to 5k ish, go 3rd, bamm 4th, cruising man.

Gas milage granny shifting in an auto.TM

On the interstate doing 65 you should have enough rpms to quickly pass a slow vehicle. On a 55 road,You may need to go to 3rd, but its cooler doing it in an auto.I dont like slow cars, do 58 they probabbly wont pull you over.

I think most of us would kill our grannies pulling an awd launch.

My mom on the other hand said shes down for one:hellyeah: Shes either gonna love it or never getting in my car again.;) My mom is cool beans,She used to have her stroked and bored 70s cars,But those were rwd;)

Yes on the first part... In part not really for the second... Far from it on the last.

I guess what I meant is for a dd as long as you're always light on the gas you shouldn't notice a difference. Driving "enthusiastically" I would imagine is where you see the largest difference. But obviously I'm no expert so I will yield to your automotive knowledge. (Not being sarcastic)

LOL I guess my definition of "granny shifting" is wrong.

Wait....wait....wait....wait....wait....wait.

Wait.

Are we seriously guessing what your fuel mileage will be?

I've seen some ridiculous thread topics in my day, but this one takes the cake. SO many variables including temperature, fuel type, tune, fuel pressure, injector size, throttle usage, cruising speed, traffic type- to give you a solid guess would be like guessing tomorrow's lottery number....basically f*cking impossible.

im asking the difference in gas milegae from my old to new setup if others have the same or similar setup. so i know what to expect

....and I'm telling you that it's impossible for us to tell you what fuel mileage you can expect. There can be two identically-spec'd cars sitting side by side and they'll get two different fuel mileage ratings based on tune and driving habits alone.

Like I said....pointless- like guessing a certain setup's horsepower, ET's, or trap speeds.
