Anyone have any experience in how these carpets fit? are they an oem carpet or one of the ones you have to trim the hell out of to get it to fit right. I've been thinking about a 100% black interior as well for a while now........

I too am doing an all-black interior conversion. I switched out the carpet about a month ago. It's a little work, but nothing too bad. It just takes some time to cut out every little hole. I just took the old carpet out, put it on top of the new carpet, and tried to match it (leaving extra material all the way around). Then, just start putting it in with scissors and a knife, cutting it to fit. Mine came out looking great.

I plan on finishing up over the holidays, so I'll post after that. I got OEM dash, console, door sills, and door panels in black. Everything else will be painted.

I'm wondering what paint you used to get the plastic interior pieces black like that. it looks very nice, and not real glossy or anything. Did you use a satin black, or a flat black for that? Any clear? Im mainly interested in the color of the black, not so much the brand.
oh, and are there any more pics to be posted?

Hope you have plenty of touch up paint. When I did the interior of a civic all yellow I used plastic and leather dye. Messy job but it never chips or scratches off. It soaks into the material you put it on. Dont care how good the prepwork was with the paint its gonna come off sooner or later. Sean

Well, considering Illiclipse says it's paint and he was the original poster. I would say paint. It looks like a satin black to me, but don't take my word for it.

Where did you get black headliner? Or what kind of shop was able to do that for you? Also, what are you doing about the rubber trim that goes around areas like the edge of the ceiling and sunroof, around the doors, and pillars, etc. Can you buy that stuff in black or are you painting it as well? Just curious. All black is something I've thought about doing as well, but never really looked too much into yet.

what kind of plastic and leather dye did u use? I want to make my interior all black and want to know what is best dye to use.

You can get results like that using a rattlecan with vinyl/leather dye. I tried both ways, and the paint always chipped and flaked off.

Clean the leather with a bucket full of warm water and a few drops of dawn dishsoap (dawn has no ammonia or anything like that in it) and scrub it with a green S.O.S. pad. You will be amazed how much grime comes off the panels. Rinse it with room temp water, scuff the leather with wet 1500 grit sandpaper, let it airdry, and repeat again. Even the second time you will clean more dirt, oils and grime off of it, just dont touch it with your bare fingers after you clean it the 2nd time. Then spray the cleaned panel with either Dupli-Color vinyl/leather or SEM dye. You need to spray very light coats. I think i used probably 8-10 light coats, maybe even 12 or so.

Check my gallery, those pics are from last summer, but the black is holding up on the rear seats and on the door panels (i have no reported fading on the door panels either which have been dyed for almost 2 years now, backseats were done this past summer). Right now im in the process of smoothing out all of my panels (similar to the rear seat panels) and replacing the red with white.

A couple days ago me and a friend painted his airvents on his firebird red and we used a vinyl and fabric paint u can get at advance auto and it seemed to bond pretty good of course his dumb retarded self didnd let the paint dry and snapped them back on. I painted them and id say the best way is to spray whatever ur gonna do little by little. spray on coat on wait till it drys and the do it all over again. When it first goes on it look kind of oily let it dry after the first 3 or 4 coats youll see a bright nice color to it. Every one says that paint will chip off this paint hasnt yet and knowing how much u move the airvents adjusting them and stuff. Hope fully this helps u guys out there and i dont doubt that he used a paint.

I just finished converting my entire interior to black. I did the carpet, floormats, headliner, pillars, lower dash pieces, center counsel sides, glovebox, moon roof sliding cover, and misc small gray peices.... The only thing I have left to do it the visors and then I still have to assemble about half of it all.
