Anyone had issues with an aftermarket filter and gasket in these cars? I picked up on from a parts store and just making sure they are legit. If not let me know! Thanks!

Im running a napa brand trans filter that has a yellow paper element. Granted, Iv only made 5 passes on my auto-swap, but the trans doesn't appear to be slipping or showing any line pressure symptoms from the filter being restrictive. It's held solid on a mid 10 & 130+ mph 16g setup that I would guestimate is near 500hp.

The last dealer one I bought was $53.00 last year...MD735572..
Knowing this filter has been in the sevens, is enough to keep me buying them for my slow ride...;) Cheap insurance I think..

I'm a Wix kind of guy myself. Most of Napa's part numbers match up to the Wix part numberse and in fact are Wix filters.

For the first time in a long time I found an OEM style filter at a parts place. I just needed a gasket so I went to Advance auto and found the filter that came in the ~$12 kit was OEM style and just kind of jumped for joy

Yea I picked one up from a parts store but I don't want 40 dollars to cause a tranny rebuild LOL.

The wix filters are just as good as OEM, maybe even better.

OEM is often overated, as long as you buy a quality part. Stay away from ricerzone brand items for the most part.

I run Oreilly's Brand Oil in my saturn, and never had an issue. Recently changed to Castrol GTX syntehic, and hell I can tell any differnce, going back to the cheaper oreily's brand oil next time.

I would just make sure to change the filter every 12,000 miles, along with good quality trans fluid. Go with wix/napa/oreilly's brand filter.

What about IPT? I havent seen any issues with my tranny, but I havent taken it down the track yet either...

That would be interesting if IPT didn't use OEM filters....If they OKed an aftermarket filter, I might feel differently..
The person that built my trans insist on them and Kiggly does too..

I bought mine from the dealer it was 43$. I then got curious and went into napa to see if they could get me a similar one. They did and it cost half of what the oem one did. I have a comparison picture in my photobucket account. I have the napa one still on packaging if you want the part number.

They are exactly the same as oem. Don't get it from Autozone or checkers though. They are too small and don't fit properly. I did however use the gasket from checkers and havent had any issues.

As far as fluid I used valvoline ATF +4 full synthetic. Walmart has it for 5 a quart which isn't bad.

Hope his helps.
