AEM Uego Wideband issue

I am currently installing my uego into my 1g. It had worked before but now I am having trouble with it. I bought a brand new sensor and hooked everything up. The gauge would constantly read 14.7 so I got on here and searched. Everything pointed to a connection issue. So I took off the cable that runs from the sensor to the gauge and noticed it was corroded slightly. I called up Maperformance and ordered a new cable thinking this would fix my issue. After plugging in the new cable I still had the same problem. I took out my test light to check on connectivity at the back of the gauge and two of the 6 wires light up the tester, 3 of them caused the gauge to read --- and the center green one made the gauge jump to 14.8 or 14.9. After doing this I feel as though the gauge is fine and am wandering if it is possible that my new sensor is a dud?

could also be the possibility that the gauge died somehow.....I know when my sensor was going out it would read and cycle but it would go full lean during pulls

Yeah I can understand what you are saying. I guess I may have to find a known working gauge and test against it. Even though the gauge displays and turns on I am just unsure about what it could be.

Just got off the phone with them and it seems my options are to either find a known working gauge and test mine or send it off and pay them to diag. it.

Yes, I even let it idle for at least five minutes. Although I have read that even if the car isn't on the gauge will begin to read just the air and will eventually start going up then display ---.

When you first turn on the car does the guage go through it's start up sequence, i.e. counts down or up from 1 then shows P00 then reads the A/F ratio.

try tracing all your wires and make sure everything is right, make sure the wires to the plug arent messed up on the plug one could have got messed up and it wouldnt read

I have it grounded to the bracket that holds the radio.

try tracing all your wires and make sure everything is right, make sure the wires to the plug arent messed up on the plug one could have got messed up and it wouldnt read

It is a brand new harness and while I was testing it out I just ran it from the gauge out the window and connected it to the sensor in the engine bay.

Send it back to AEM they should just send you a new one!

One last thing to try ground it to the ground wire on the radio harness.

i know how you feel. my sensor died so i unplugged it until i got another one and it constantly reads 10.1. and there isnt anything for it to read from since the wideband o2 is sitting in my ashtray .

One last thing to try ground it to the ground wire on the radio harness.

I am trying to find a known working sensor and wiring to test my gauge on before I send it to them. On 1g's there is no ground on the wiring harness the radio is self grounding through the bracket that holds it. I may try a different ground and see if it makes a difference but it looks as though I may need a new gauge.

Oh, okay... if all else fails wire it directly to the battery just to see if it's a ground problem.

That was my next idea just to cancel out the wiring issues.

Unfortunately I called AEM and they won't sell just the gauge to me which is total horse****. You have to send it to them, they charge you $30 to look at it and then hope that they can fix it for less than a whole new bundle would cost. I would just by a whole new kit but I have a brand new sensor and wiring so I just need the gauge. If worse comes to worse I'll buy a new kit and sell off the sensor that comes with it to get some of my money back.

if it's to rich or to lean it will read ---. ?do you have it wired in to the ecm?

No its just simply wire up as the directions say; power ground and then plugged into the sensor.

sounds like a grounding problem.

It only read --- when I was testing the wires with my test light. The car wasn't on. I'm not sure if you've read my post correctly. With the gauge wired up and on it reads 14.7 all the time whether the car is on or off.

o00 ok try reseting everything . take positive battery cable put it on neg for 10 sec.

Just ran out and tested the gauge again with the power and ground hooked up to the battery to rule out bad connections. I am almost more than convinced its the gauge that has gone bad on me.

Well I just had to figure this out. I unscrewed the front plates on and took off the front display board. Its connected to the back board similar to an eprom chip. I then discovered the problem. Something on the inside went wrong a "chip" or two burned up and all of the connectors for the sensor connection looked to be destroyed. So I guess this solves my problem.

I have been looking for just a gauge but I am having a really hard time finding someone who sells just the gauge alone and no luck with ebay either.
