AEM EMS - Where to place EGT probe?

Ill be running a AEM EMS standalone this year and it has 4 out puts to run 4 egt sensors.

Anyone running 1 EGT probe per runner? or you using just 1 in total?

Use one probe per runner. Don't even waste your time with just one probe. If you have the ability(AEM) use it. We run AEm in the 2G. We don't however run EGT sensors. More parts look after and maintain. ALMOST too much of a headache for the use. ALMOST. Great tool if all four are used.

Personally, you are going to be better off, and spending less money by using a quality wideband O2 sensor versus spending for 4 EGT probes.

I am still running one EGT probe in the downpipe (~10" downstream of turbo flange) just to a peak/hold Greddy gauge.

I think you will be able to tune better using a wideband, once you get your injector phasing dialed in.

If you do decide to spend the extra $400-500 for 4 EGT probes, I would do one per runner. This will only show you so much though. You would be better off using an additional 4 MAP sensors with each one tapped into each intake runner. Then you would be able to datalog the pressure differences per runner, and would be more capable of fine-tuning per cylinder based on airflow to correct injector phasing.


Again...it will be much easier and cheaper to just use a good wideband, on the dyno, by inspecting spark plugs and using a digital pyrometer gun.
