Hey guys I have a 96’ eclipse GS with the Chrysler 420a engine and Chrysler a604 41te transmission. The pump cover/ differential cover leaks transmission fluid. I’ve had this problem for a long time now and cannot figure out a fix. I’ve tried to fix this many different ways. First I tried using a this gasket https://www.autozone.com/drivetrain...sK0V1bRK4XBrkXPzJ8BoCxlwQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
That did not work, so back to square one. I took the cover off and drained the fluid and used Permatex 81180. I ensured all surfaces were as clean as possible with alcohol and acetone yet it still leaked. I torqued the bolts to 15 foot pounds.
Finally I tried a rubber and cork mix gasket I got on eBay and that has not worked either. I’m at a loss. It doesn’t leak super fast, but it does still leak and gets on my lower control arm bushings and eventually destroys them causing my alignment to go out so I’d really like to get this problem fixed. I have checked and it’s not leaking from axle seals or anywhere else. Any ideas? I pulled a cover from a trans at a junkyard that wasn’t leaking so I’ll try that as well as inspect for any cracks in housing.
