I blew my head gasket so i took my head off and its in the shop getting checked for cracks and surfaced. I am getting a complete upper gasket set but i was wondering what else i should do while i have it taken apart. Im getting new timing belt, tensioners, water pump, radiator and thermostat. Are there any more parts i should replace while im at it? its a 98 420a n/t with 130k.
Thanks!

Bogus has also got a nice oil port mod for you.Ask him about it and he will tell you what has to be done.

well i have a 420a n/t not a 4g63t.

is it the same idea though?

and as far as the type of gasket i'm using i'm not sure i haven't bought it yet i was just gonna buy the stock gasket. I don't know the difference between them.

as far as surfacing goes..4G63, 420a, Ford, ANY head should not be Belt surfaced!

a MLS Head gasket is just what the name applys.. Muti Layered Steel

A composite is a One piece deal, most have a perferated core with a facing on either side, and are much more "forgiving" to surface irregularites...

oh ok yea i talked to the guy doing my head to make sure he was milling it and not belt surfacing.

-timing belt
-tensioners(timing and idler)
-water pump
-oil pump
-complete upper gasket set
-radiator
-thermostat

cam gears if its in your budget.... they will help bring the cams back into "true time" with the crank...
