Whats up guys, was trying to install a new a/c belt the other day on my 97 GST when I ran into a problem.

I noticed the crank pulley and a/c belt tensioner pulley both look like they’re for a 4 rib belt, while the pulley on the a/c compressor only fits a 3 rib.

Autozone gave me a 4 rib that won’t work since it’s too big for the a/c compressor pulley, but it fit perfectly on the other pullies.

Just wondering if this is normal, and is it supposed to be 3 rib?

Thanks.

It is originally a 4-rib belt / system. Extremely odd that your A/C compressor would have a different pulley. Do you have any idea whether it is the original or not?

There are a couple different styles of 2g a/c compressors, but I believe their all 4 rib. Perhaps a 1g compressor has made its way into the car? I don't have one to compare to, but I believe they're 3 rib? Idk I could be wrong.

If I had seen this thread yesterday, my compressor is sitting on the shop floor for a good picture. I can do that later today to answer the question.

This is the stock 1992 a/c compressor

I've had this car since 2005 and never had to change the belt till now LOL. I'm guessing the compressor has been changed? I thought it was weird that the pulleys were for a 4 rib but not the one on the compressor.

I'll have to get a pic of it. Maybe I can squeeze my phone in there from the top without dropping it LOL.
