A/C and heat flow constantly comes out of defrost vents.

sup guys. this is my first post so here it goes. when i turn on my ac or heater no matter what switch i have the air coming out, half of the air is getting stuck on the vents by the windshield. i can hear the air blowing hard but it is not coming out strong. a friend of mine told me that their is a wire that if i move it back in the right spot, the air wont get trapped. so my question is how do i get to the problem and how do i fix it being that moving the wire is the solution. i tried using the search multiple times but i just couldn't find the answer because i didn't know what specifically to ask and so i couldn't find definite answers.

Only thing I can think of is rats nest of sh1t in there or the flapper is jammed.


Probably need to pull out the HVAC tubing to see if there is something in there.

yeah what your buddy was talking about is how there is a cable, it's kinda like a throttle cable, it pulls or pushes a selector knob back and forth, I am not too sure where it is on the 2g, on the 1g it is behind the glove box [if memory serves] but it should be in a service manual, depending on whats wrong, you will want to inspect it or adjust it, to see if it is installed right, it might have come loose, or something is blocking the flapper door that opens and closes.

you should get a hold of a copy of the fsm [or download it] .

Sounds like something is interfering with the flapper that diverts the air, time to get under the dash and look.

Can that method be the solution to my problem even though its not the exact problem I have. I plan to try it later when its not hot because its 100 degrees right now

I just noticed that when I change the ac modes nothing changes. Any ideas guys?
