Hey guys this is my 1st post on DSMtuner! ;) Anyway I currently own a 94' Eclipse GS which is getting replaced with either 1 of 2 options.

The first option is a 98' GSX (asking: $7995) which is basically stock with low miles 72K, leather, moon roof, powe everything etc. Here are some photo's for reference.

Pretty clean eh?

Okay so here is option 2; 97' GS-T (asking: $8,500) even though i'll probably try to talk them down to $7,500 perhaps (which I know is above blue book but it has a lot of mods that I would add anyway). The milage is @ 95K.

This is a great car to cruise in or race. It has 95K miles, tan leather interor, power everything, moon-roof, manual transmisson. It's lowered, 18" rims, brand new tires, AGX struts, new after market turbo and blow-off valve. Has 3 racing gauges: air to fuel, pyrometer, and boost gauge. It also has a turbo timer and EVC boost controller installed in the dash. It also has a 3" downpipe, no cat on the exhaust. I will throw in the cat down-pipe that can be easily changed in and out if needed to pass DEQ. This car can run a 13.6 quarter mile!

So basically the problem lies in I love AWD but i hear the top end isn't as fast, and if i get the stock GSX i know i'm just going to waste all my money on pretty much the same mod's that the GS-T has. In your opinions what should I get?

I guess awd is the best thing in the world :toobad:
That's a pretty good guess for someone whose screen name would seem to indicate a high degree of stupidity. :thumb:

If it wasn't for AWD, I'd never put up with a DSM. That's just me. You buy and drive what you want.

okay so a little update, obviously the 1st guy didn't know what he was talking about, i went and test drove the silver "GSX" which actually turned out to be a silver GS-T *rolls eyes* and it was SHIT, not the cars performance but it was obvious the car had wiring problems and I could tell he didn't know WTF he was doing since he started it up and immediately began reving the engine to 5K telling me "this would warm it up"....

Basically I have decided after talking to the GIRL that owns the purple GS-T i will probably get it, she says she can provide documentation for scheduled service AND receipts for professional install on all her parts. Since I'm only keeping the car for 4 - 5 month (until i can get an M3) I think it will be a fun little car to mash around for the time being.

Any other opinions?

if your getting an m3 in 4-5mos why drop 8k on a car now when you will be getting rid of it later and lose more money due to depreciation? why not just get a beater car for a couple hundred bucks and save the rest for the m3?

Well, it looks like money's not really that big of an issue, but I'd wait too. If you're getting a m3 after winter I'd just buy a beater. Or even buy a decent 1g AWD. It will be almost just as quick and you could make it even faster if you wanted. Plus, you'll only be losin like what, 3 thousand max?

Basically because my parents are getting it for a present since I quit smoking (my mom hated it, and took me 5 years to stop) and now that I'm going to college full time they wanted to get me something nice I suppose. In regards to the M3 I have some more money rolling in in the next 4 - 6 months so it wont be a problem but it's def. better than the car I have now (94' eclipse N/T), always loves the eclipse's and I have had this N/T for over 2 years and I just kinda wanted a turbo'd one to play with for a while before I go luxery.

option 3
get a rolling body (under 3k)
paint job (1-2k)
7bolt/6bolt motor (1.5k)

so when you sell it in a couple years, you will break even or make money.
