Ok I recenly purchased a 98 eclipse rs with manual transmission. I replaced the the clutch and installed new output shaft seals and topped it all off with brand new mopar gear oil (way over priced).

When I got the car it didn't drive due to destroyed clutch and now that its back together I am having problems with first gear. When I am sitting still I can shift into first easily with no effort but if car is moving it wants to grind no matter how fast or slow I try to put it in. Any ideas what could cause this?

I assumed it would be the synchro just wanted to get 2nd opinions.
Is it possible to get just the synchro for 1st or do I have to buy the entire rebuild kit?

You can do just that one but it makes more sense to replace them all while it is apart to save on a lot of labor.

The labor part is not a big deal(Currently laidoff) Where would I purchase the synchros from and what kind of price would I be looking at?

Not sure on price but you can get them from Mitsubishi or a transmission rebuild place like TRE or possibly even Shep. Any local transmission rebuild place should be able to get them for you though. If your looking for an easier alternative, try finding one in a junkyard. I know I picked up a transmission for my 91 TSi for $300.00 so I would imagine a non-turbo one would be about the same and would save a lot of time.

Double check that the hydraulic system is bled properly and that the pedal is in proper adjustment before you spend the money on a rebuild.

You'll need a press if you intend to rebuild the NV-T350 transmission by yourself.
