Hello. I am a seasoned car enthusiest but new to DSM. I picked up a 97 gst for a steal. The car was partially torn down and needed a few things reinstalled and plugs connected. So I was told. The guy told me it has a 96 ecu and harness, 5 speed swap and new engine gaskets. I installed Everything. The 96 harness has the cas plug on the drivers side so I rerouted it to the other side. The car still had the 97 cas in it so I modified the cas plug to be able to connect it until i could get the harness to convert to my 1g cas. I attempted to start the car. There was no spark on any plugs. I tested the cas and crank sensor. Neither had power to the red wire so I made a temporary jumper wire. I attempted to start the car again but wouldn't run. I checked the plug for the coil packs. Had power to the bottom pin. Right pin had correct pulse when cranking for coil pack firing cyl 2&3. However, the other plug was dead. I swapped to a spare ptu I had and still nothing. I soldiered the blue plug on the firewall. I then tested the ptu plug. All pins were good with key on. When trying to crank pin 2, signal in from ecu to fire coil for cyl 2&3, went from constant ground to pulsibg properly. Pin 7 however, signal in from ecu for coil firing cyl 1&4, stayed constant ground when cranking. I unplugged my ecu and my test light went dark telling me that the wire wasn't shorted somewhere in the loom. I swapped to a spare ecu I know nothing about and things swapped around. On the spare ecu pin 2 stays constant and pin 7 pulses. I haven't gone any farther than that since I didn't have a multimeter. The only other thing I can think of doing next is testing output of the cam sensor and crank sensor to see if the voltage is correct, which should be 5v right? Anyone have any other suggestions? Haven't tested injector pulse yet. I am considering either buy a black box ecu I found for dirt cheap or try rigging in the 1g cas without the harness. I am good with engines and electrical so I feel like I can do it. Also, where does the cas and crank sensor get it's power from?
