97 4g64 question

Rebuilding my nephews 99 gst eclipse for him. Pulled motor had machine shop do work and got it back. went to put it back together and thrust bearing wouldnt go in. Parts i got were for a 99 eclipse. turns out the engine is out of a 97. which i assume is a 1 piece design on the thrust washer. Is that the only difference?. Will the rest of the engine kit work?

If the split style thrust bearings don't fit then you need a one piece style main bearing set. Basically the same besides that.

By default the GST has a 4G63. The 4G64 is only in the 2g non-turbo Spyders. What do you really have since it's not the original engine?

It's a 97 eclipse. All parts and such were supplied to me they just didn't know they have a 97. They thought they bought a 99.

Then you SHOULD have a 4g63, not a 4g64.
