Im looking at a 96 talon esi that needs a tranny. The tranny that was in it blew out the crank case. He wants $500 for the car. Ive found a transmition for $300.. is that a good deal?? I really dont know much about dsm's. I just know the BB value is $1800ish in good condition. Got some pictures. Let me know... Im not buying this to keep and drive. Im just buying to fix and sell.

Well I wouldnt want it because It has the 420A engine in it. But if it was a turbo AWD with only a tranny problem for 500 I wouldnt think twice about buying it.. Also I cant really tell from the picture ### its not clear but it looks like the paint has some fading/bad spots going on. So. I wouldnt buy it but thats just my opinion

IMO i would NOT buy this car, $500 for the car $300 for the trans + fluid filter $80 up too $880 you will be lucky to get $1500 for this car. But the final decision is up to you.

Yea those are fadding spots. Im not wanting it for my driver. Just wondering if it is worth $500 (Im going to offer him $400) and is an auto FWD transmiton worth $300 or is that to much??... Wanting to get $1400 obo out of it after I fix it if I get it.. Think I could??

Possibly, I paid 3000 for my GS but it was in good shape. But you also dont know if its only the tranny thats wrong with it. It could also have engine problems and or suspension problems. You could end up putting 1500+ into it. But i definately wouldnt buy it.

ok thanks. I dont know much about dsm's. The engine does run he has a video dated a few days earlier before he pulled the tranny. But yea. Thanks. Im not going to get it.

Buy time your all done you will make $200-$300 bucks. is all the work worth it to you? and $300 for the trans depends? how many miles? you get the tourqe converter too? can you verify the miles? When your talking used trannys you could run into problems. I suppose if he takes $400 and you could get the trans for $200, then your talkin $400-$600 In profit.

tranny has 102k and the car has 160k

I wouldn't go for it. I mean it has the 420a which could make some possible power with a turbo and what not, but the main reason I wouldn't is because of the auto tranny.

idk but automatic tranys are always a hastle...to me.
plus in automatics people look at the shifting...if it shifts kinda hard or revs up high untill its next shift blah blah blah...

my pont is, automatics are more trouble to mess with IMO. u see an automatic tranny go out ALOT faster than a manual tranny. u can beat up on a manual and have less to worry about than an auto. except for the clutch burning out on u more often, but thats a quick fix LOL.

i would buy it slap it together so it drives and sell it for 1400 or a little more and then buy a awd 1g.

Thats what I was wanting to do. Slap it together and sell it, but Im not worried about haveing a dsm as a DD. My first and last dsm I owned was a 92 eclipse gs and it wouldnt even run a week after I bought it. I now have a 93 Toyota MR2 non turbo(next month will be a turbo with around 250whp).
