I need an opinion. I found a guy with a parts car. It has a small 16g turbo with very minimal shaft play. 3" exhaust all the way back. Fmic with short route piping. Greddy knock off bov. It's a awd 91 talon tsi 5-speed. He just upgraded it with ostrich 2.0. It did have a safc... it has fuel injector clinic 650 injectors. Evo 8 maf. Body and interior are 6/10 at best. New alternator and battery. He's asking $1200 for it. Runs and drives but needs tuned. He never got around to learning the ostrich tuning. Is it worth what he's asking? Basically I'll be using it for a parts car for mine and pull all of the aftermarket support from it and put it on mine. What do you guys think?

Depending on how it looks, I'd buy it, iron the issues out, make it look decent and flip it for a profit. If you can get it to run very well, look good, and it be presentable with no grinds/issues, those cars are actually selling for $3k-$4k now. It may just be tax season, but you could at the very least double your money. Instead of raping it for parts and junking it, you'd save a DSM and have $2000-$2500 to spend on your current car when all was said and done. Or you could just keep it and have two DSMs...Lol.

I got a guy local to me that is offering an almost identical deal. The one close to me is only a gst 2g. He wants $800.

It's ultimatly YOUR $1200 though so in the end it will be your choice.

I would buy it. Maybe try and offer him a little less. The worst that could happen is he says the price is firm.

Also the AWD swap is pretty popular and you could probably part out that portion of your leftovers on Craigslist or forums to make your money back.

I am always looking for (a local) wrecked 2g AWD for my planned swap.

Seems like a good buy. Look at it like this, a running 4g63t engine 600 all day. Trans and t case, prob 3 or 400. 16g if its mhi 250 to 300. You got your money back right there and the rest is profit.

Thanks everyone! Bit the bullet and bought it. Figure it's worth having spare parts anyway plus there's tones of aftermarket goodies on it :)
