Okies folks. Here's the deal. Hubby had to change the water pump on the GST. Car was running fine except for the whole running a little warm thing, heh. Get it all apart and put back together, and now the car is idling REAL rough, almost like a cammed up chevy. Timing is fine, we checked that first. Just replaced the spark plug wires because one of them was arcing. That got rid of the static-y noise I heard, now we're down to rough idle. The car drives perfect. When you get to the point of braking, it starts acting like it wants to cut off, but it hasn't. Looked for anything that was unplugged, but couldn't find anything. I'm at a loss and hubby has duty today so he can't really do anything until tomorrow evening anyway. Just looking for some ideas on where to start. Thanks guys!

rough idle, not idle surge dude... sounds like you've never had idle surgeWTF, if you think "cammed chevy" and "idle surge" are the same thing...:ohdamn:

I was wondering if you could give us a little more information to rule some stuff out?:hmm: does it drive fine?

if so, check the sensors.

if notOMG, Check the timing belt, make sure it's dead on... if that's not it, check the firing order of the plug wires.

let me know if either of these things doesn't solve the problem. :thumb:

You didn't read the first post at all. If you did, you would know that, it drives perfectly, and that the timing is dead on. To me there is a difference in a SURGING idle, as in, idle that raises and lowers, and a ROUGH idle, as in, the car is idling like ass. Thanks anyway... AND.. I'm not a dude, thanks.

Make shure your spark plugs are the correct ones. When I bought my car it had the wrong plugs and it drove fine but idled like crap. But I do agree with you idle surge and a rough idle is diffrent.Easy thing to check and I hope its an easy fix. good luck DUDE'ET

If you payed attention, I was speaking about the guy above me. Who IS a dude, and who also listed all of the things I picked apart, as possible problems. And there's no need to be a bi*** to someone who is offering help, even if it is irrelevant.
