Ok I'm new to the dsm scene and my 95 gsx trans is about shot.... What other years gsxs trans can I use? I still have the factory 7 bolt engine in the car, any help would be awesome thanks.

when you say "about shot" what exactly is it doing or not doing? there's tons of info on repairing and rebuilding these transmissions. what I'm getting at is that there may be a more cost efficient option in comparison to replacing it

You can use any awd trans from 1995-1999, but from 1997-1999 (the 2gb), you need the 1997-1999 transfer case because of the different gear ratios. I myself bought a 1995-96 trans so i had to get the 1995-96 trans case with it. (i have a 1998 GSX)

The problem is first gear won't go in it just pops back out, and grinds if you try to hold it in. But if I'm moving a lil bit it will sometimes go in but grinds badly. I just got out of the Honda scene and don't wanna go back my gsr civic I built got stolen a month ago so, really wanna stay with dsm now.

First gear popping out on a 2g is a very common problem. IT is neither a syncro or hub. The problem is the bellhousing side bearing on the intermediate shaft. It goes bad and causes a lot of slack. That slack won't allow the gear to engage all the way.

I stand corrected. Also an easy repair though. Since it is a common problem, there should be plenty of threads and how to videos to help.

Don't quote me on this, But If you end up getting a 2gb tranny with out the T_Case, you just swap the differential gear from the 2ga to 2gb and you well be all set.
I believe, the only difference between 2ga and agb are just the differential gears, one has less teeth then the other one and that's what makes the radios different.

Yea, you would probably be ok but, the preload shims are located in the differential housing (transmission case and bellhousing).
