I purchased a 95 GSX 6-bolt swap project. The kid got it to where it is now, and left a few things to be finished.

I have a few questions:

1) There isn't a CAS, would I buy for a 1g and splice in the plug, or does it plug right in?

2) Alot of Vacuum lines and plugs everywhere, Any help would be appreciated.

3) Anything Else I need to pay special attention too with this swap?

Here are a few pictures..

Are you sure that's not a 7-bolt head? Those are 2g intake and exhaust manifolds. He may have had the head bolt holes bored out to fit 6-bolt bolts.

Look behind the intake cam gear for the CAS.

EDIT: I can't tell from your photos if it's there or not. He might have just just the 2g intake and exhaust manifolds. If so, you'll want to swap to a 1g intake manifold for better flow.

I have no Idea what he did. He wasn't really knowledgeable either, which somewhat scared me.

Also thank you for the link! Should have known to search, I'll be back with any questions I have.

Now which CAS would you recommend? Black top, Green Top, Silver top? I RRE website, but I couldn't find a recommendation, just the three choices? Is that all it comes down to? Or do certain colors work better with years?

95/96 CAS is on the intake under the cam gear not on the back of the cam. You may have one there.

If you look in the first picture, It shows were it should be, at the end of the Intake Cam, where the two threaded bolts are. Correct?

He said he has a 6 bolt engine and you can obviously see the empty spot where the CAS should be, but obviously isn't.

Thanks Guys! I have a factory side mount, but the piping is MIA. Would you recommend an aftermarket FMIC or just purchased the factory piping for the SMIC.

Another question to coincide with the first, Would I buy the Intercooler piping or FMIC for a 1gen or 2nd?!

This is almost identical to what mine looks like. I am in need of some help as well. I want to post pics of my engine bay but I don't want to take over the man's thread. Is it ok if I post some pictures of mine here? I have a '95 GST with a 6 bolt swap and am in need of some help to get me started. I have absolutley NO clue. That sounds bad but I want to learn. I don't know anything about the car other than minor things. I wish I would have asked more questions before I bought it. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Use the search button. That is what you'll be told lots so you might as well do it already. You can also just scan different threads on the forum and you'll learn lots about these cars. So basically, do lots of reading and then ask questions.

from the looks of it you have a 7 bolt head. Basically all the parts you're gonna buy are gonna be from a 2g UNLESS they're for your bottom end (oil filter, flywheel, etc.). As for intercooler piping you need it for a 2g.

Awesome, Thank you.

I'll begin the search for a FMIC for a 2g then.

Here are some pictures of my engine bay. Can someone tell me what all is going on here?

^ What is your question? If you have a 6 bolt? I believe I see a 1G Throttle Body (if the vacuum nipples are pointing towards the pass. side)

Oh and I also see an UICP(upper intercooler pipe) made out of PVC piping(probably from Home Depot), and a ghetto recirc tube. I also see a 1G CAS, so Im vaguely assuming it is a 6 bolt. Post a pic of the intake manifold.

This may help as well:

You can see the intake manifold here but is it to far away to tell?

Yea the intercooler piping is crap i pulled all of that out and also the vaccum lines. I've also removed the radiator and started to remove the wiring harness. I didn't label anything so I know that I will need help when I go to rewire the car but that prob won't be for months.

If by rebuild parts you mean engine parts then , yes you do. It seems that it is a complete longblock that they swapped in, which is 6 bolt block and head.

It would benefit you to buy parts for whatever year make and model the engine came out of.
