Stock axles FTW!

Fill a gym bag full of spares and take them with when you go to the track.

:)

If you have a proper suspension setup they should last. Jeff Bush is still running stock front axles on the drag queen I believe.

Ordered a few parts, I'll post pics when they get in and hopefully I can get something done on this heap.

Also, I'll be dumping another $8k into this pos to hopefully finish it before November which is when Import Faceoff will be in Montgomery, AL.

I'll post more pics of parts and progress when they come in and work gets done. Just waiting for my buddy's 2.4L FP Red Evo IX to get finished so I can get this headache over to the shop and on a lift.

Lots of parts ordered to finish this turd.

I'll post pics as they come in. Also going to get some work done on this heap this weekend.

Rear diff and rear subframe was in rough shape to say the least.

Thanks.

It has deffinately been a long process. But like I've said before, I have a vision of how I want the car to look so I'm sticking to that and will take as long as I need to get the car to that point.

Also, I couldn't get the buddyclub wheels as they didn't have the offset I needed. They had a set with a +35 offset but they would take 8 weeks to get here. So.... I'll be ordering some Welds once I figure out backspacing and some other things.

Looks good! Do you keep in contact with Chuck? I met him a few years back at the shootout and his brother made it last year. I make it a point to hang out a bit at everyone. I assume he still is in mobile?

That was me with him last year, his brother and another guy came with us the year before.

We'll be there again this year at the best western like the past few years. Ya'll going to be at the econolodge again?

ohh shit! the twin! hah. Yeah, we got a room at the econo again. I’m going to be trailering up my 1g to make a few shakedown passes. Should be interesting I know it’s going to come down to traction as I don’t want to give my by big brakes for 15s and slicks. I can’t wait… tick tick tick.

Moving along nicely...

Good time to replace the wheel bearings and install extended ARP wheel studs, upgrade sub-frame bushings and weld toe eliminator.

What is the springs rate that came with the coilover?

Not sure on the spring rate, I know they aren't what I want which is 450 front and 650 rear.

Better pic of the diff cover. I trimmed off the excess gasket that squeezed out after I took this pic.

Waiting on my buddy to finish up on the subframe. He's tig welding up the seams and welds on it to help strengthen it. Then it will get reblasted and powdercoated. Also I have poly bushings to go in this.
IMG_20130702_142634_134_zps00b2b819.jpg

Then everything will be reassembled with all new OEM hardware.

New AEM E85 320lph fuel pumps to go in the fullblown dual pump hanger.
IMG_20130702_125500_147_zpsae726ff7.jpg

Front knuckles are currently disassembled and at the shop getting powdercoated and will get new wheel bearings and seals. Also I just ordered all the OEM hardware to replace everything in the front subframe, which will be next.

Just glad I'm making some progress :hellyeah:

I really like the detail and work youve done its quite inspiring, for your fellow dsmers, i realize i have some work to do to make my dsm what i know it can and will be one day.

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words.

It just takes time.

and LOTS of $$$ unfortunately. I've been building this thing for 4-5 years now, like stated before I know what I want it to look like when its done so I'm taking my time to make sure it becomes that image I have pictured.

Some small progress made.....

Finally got the Frontline Fab transfer case brace installed. Kind of a pain in the ass, It came with only 7 bolts, Andrew sent me 4 more, I had to go buy 2 more today. I had to tap the holes for the tailshaft clamp because they weren't tapped but 3/4's of an inch. I also had to pretty much destroy the old cover to get the race out of it so I could put it in this thing. ALso replaced the rear and side output shaft seals.

IMG_20130706_225125_zps7b3e1e34.jpg

I got the trailing arms and bolted together and done.

TCE front and rear drag brake kit should be here monday. Still waiting on WELD wheels, FAL window kit, Eibach coilover springs, Frontline Fab driveshaft loop, front lower control Arms, and probably some other stuff to come in.

Front spindles and hubs are at the machine shop getting reassembled, hopefully that will be done sometime early this coming week.

Rear bumper and taillights are at the paint shop, hopefully they will be done this week as well.

Also waiting on my order of OEM junk from JNZ so I can start on the front subframe and finish the rear.

Still A LOT of work to do.

FAL window kit also came in. I post pics when I get home from work.

More parts to arrive today.

What struts are those and is that a direct replacement for the wilwoods, looking to upgrade suspension and brake set up to, my build is almost 2 years with this awd and started in 94 with my first eclipse long way too.

4 months, pshhhh....

I've been waiting almost 9. I ordered it back in October.

Trust me, I will talk to Andrew when I see him at the shootout.
Yea, I can top both of you. March '12 for my F*F DS loop... Not sure if that's something to brag about though. :toobad:

:dsm:

Not trying to side track this wonderful build thread but I too will be able to talk to Andrew at the S.O. Unfortunately the DSM will remain in AZ, I'm flying into PA and taking a road trip with Brian and Eric to Ohio.

We should do a poll on how many DSMers are waiting for DS loops. LOL

:dsm:

No problem at all guys. I started a thread on ecmtuning forums about his customer service and a bunch of people chimed in and said they had been waiting forever on parts. Also a few of his testers or big name guys chimed in and defended him. The thread got deleted of course. Andrew is a nice guy and makes great stuff, his customer service and ability to complete orders on a timely manner suck.

Please someone start a thread and I will post in it for sure. Maybe it will get him off his butt if his reputation is put in question.
