Finally got a hold of Brad from Bradco. He called me back today, apologized for not sending the converter out before Christmas like he said. Reason being he was busy with a big order of TH400 adapters and converters for NHRA cars. 100k order. I said no big deal and he said he will call me tomorrow with a tracking number.

JM Fab 7 gal Fuel cell showed up yesterday.

I've got all new OEM nuts and washers to mount this. Waiting on new hose coming from JNZ tuning for the filler.

Also placed another $200 order of OEM parts.

Not sure if I said already but I've got a new carrier bearing, and all to rebuild the rear portion of the driveshaft, new bolts, nuts, and washers for the rear, and new bolts and washers to mount the Frontline Fab driveshaft loop and carrier bearing.

New transmission bolts, and transfer case bolts, I've replaced every nut and bolt in the engine bay, new Orings and gaskets for the head and somethings on the block that I'd taken off. ARP crank bolts (the 4 small ones), and several other misc bolts, nuts, and washers all OEM Mitsubishi.

Updates

Sold the 70mm S90 TB after I found out that they make a 74 which is closer to 3" so I ordered one.

Finally got a tracking number from Bradco, the converter should be here Tomorrow, Magnus TB adapter will be here Friday. So I should have everything to put the motor and trans back together and into the car.

Ordered a V-band manifold from JM Fab, it will be here in 3 weeks. Ordered more OEM nuts and bolts from JNZ tuning.

My Turbo FINALLY came in!!!!!

So now I'll be installing the trans and head finally tonight.

If it isn't one thing its another.

While installing the transmission, I remember from the first time that when we were doing so we had the trans on the dowl pins and like on a manual trans used the bolts to suck up the gap. Well on the auto we did this and heard a POP. Thinking it was just the pins going into the trans we didn't think anything of it. Well the converter wasn't seated all the way and managed to damage the pump. So the second time I installed the trans (after getting an IPT converter and installing it) I remembered this and removed the front motor mount located on the bullfab chomoly crossmember bar so the motor leaned at an angle. This made installing the transmission a lot easier. I had no issues with the trans and it went right on.

Well fast foward to the 23rd of January when I was putting the trans back in. Well like the first time I couldn't get the trans seated all the way onto the block. So I tried tightening up the bolts to suck up the gap. I heard a POP and thought I had broke the pump again. So I dropped the trans and removed the pump. Turns out the pump was fine but I managed to damage the splines on it FUUUU......!!!!! So I've ordered a new pump from Metro trans who I got the last pump from. It will be here sometime next week and hopefully I can get the damn transmission in and put the head on and get the motor put completely back together. I've ordered some more parts to finish off the motor and then its on to the suspension.

I've decided since I'm waiting to hear back from Frontline fab on the auto transfer case brace and diff cover. (I ordered a driveshaft loop from them a couple months ago and still waiting on it, so I told Andrew to contact me when he has the trasfer case brace and diff covers ready to ship before I place the order).

I'm going to pull the front subframe and get all the front suspension powder coated and replace all the bushings. I should have the ARP wheel studs in that I ordered from MachV in by then so I'll be replacing the wheel bearings and installing the studs as well.

I'll post pics as parts come in and when somthing finally gets done.

If anyone knows of a reputable shop in the southeast with a AWD dyno that can tune a DSM let me know. I'm willing to travel to Orlando, FL since there are several DSM/EVO shops in that area.

Hopefully around April I will have this heap done and ready to tune.

The last parts needed to order are Driveshaft shop axles and driveshaft. That will be around $3K

Sucks to hear about the pump issue. I know its taken me sometimes 10 minutes to get the damn converter seated all the way. Next time you have it in all the way take note on where the ring gear on the converter is and where the splines start on the output shaft. If its all the way in I think there will be roughly a 1/4" gap between the two and if there pretty close to being line up then you don't have the converter in the pump yet.

Thanks. Yeah I've pretty much gotten seating the converter down pat after breaking the first pump. Like you, I'll spin it for 5-10 minutes to make sure its seated all the way.

Got material for another project.

Two sheets of Lexan .093". This will be used for making my driver and passenger windows. I'll get the FAL (flex-a-lite) kit for the quarters and rear window.

So once I get the fronend of the car done I'll start on this part of the project.

2 key things I was wanting to do with this upgrade to the car is add power and take off weight.

ARP wheel studs came in from MachV as well as ARP crank pulley bolts from JNZ Tuning

S90 74mm TB came in as well. Bolted up and testing out a 90 degree coupler and 45 degree IC pipe.

Transmission pump came in today from Metro Transmission. I'm taking a couple more parts to be powder coated today and I'll be reinstalling the trans and putting the motor back together this weekend.

Talked to Jim at JM Fab and my manifold should be done and ready to ship the end of this week. :hellyeah:

I'll either be buying ID 2000cc injectors or Frontline Fab rear diff cover and transfer case brace this weekend. Depending on if Andrew has them ready to ship or not. Since I've been waiting 2-3 months (I can't even remember when I ordered it) for the driveshaft loop I ordered.

My local shop that I used to be part owner of when it first started, TDC (Top Dead Center) Performance has the cheapest price I've found on ID Injectors. $925 for a set of ID 2000cc injectors with the adapters.

Whats the best throttle body to use for these? I have heard Boomba and then q45 I hoping you can give some feedback. I cant start any threads to get info since im probationary I told the mods IDK how they want me to post useful info if Im new to the dsm game LOL

Q45 is overkill. Boomba or the S90 70-74mm is plenty for a large turbo setup. If you are running a stock 14B-3065 size turbo the stock throttle body is good enough.

Finally got the transmission and head on the car.

I'll get the rest of the motor back together in a few days.

JM Fab V-band manifold arrived. Very pleased with this product, Jim does top quality work. The manifold when on with no issues and there is plenty of clearence all around. Also the runners are smooth as silk and the welds are excellent.

I'll be sending the manifold to Boostin Performance for coating. I mounted it to check fitment and take measurements for my oil & coolant feed and return lines.

The FP oil return line is too short and the FP oil feed line is too long. I'm going to go through ATPturbo.com and order custom length lines and fittings. That is a good website if you need anything turbo harware related, couplers, piping, lines, fittings, clamps. I order all of my AN stuff from Summit, but I've found ATP to be easier for finding Turbo related hardware.

Very nice build! I'm VERY anxious to see your results with the Bradco converter. I spoke to Jesse about it and he had great results on Nick's car but I want to see a few more to back it up. I'm sick of spending money on converters that don't do what I need them to do. Good luck with the rest of the build...i'll be checking in from time to time to see how you're doing.

I guess I forgot to post this, but I had the compressor housing polished on the turbo.

IMG_20130216_204353_zpsa7192c7a.jpg

Yes, I too was wanting to make sure I had a converter to be able to handle and do what I wanted, I origionally had an IPT restall but wasn't sure it would be able to handle the new setup. I tried to get Precission Industries to make me a 1G billet converter, at first they said they would then they changed their minds and refunded me my money. I hadn't heard many good things about Senister Speed converters so I talked to the other guys with fast 1G auto trans and heard about Bradco. Hopefully it will perform like it has for others.

I have a Sinister 9". Good converter but it doesn't match up well with my turbo. I can't say anything bad about Mike though. I guess i'll see how you do with the Bradco this year. If it doesn't work out, i'll swap to a built 2g trans and get a PI converter.

Finally got around to ordering some injectors, ID 2000cc high Z. They should be here wednesday. Also I had to order parts to make a custom length oil feed & return lines. I had purchased FP oil return and feed lines but the drain line was too short and the feed line was too long.

I went through APTturbo.com and ordered the hardware needed.

Also selling some spare parts I had laying around collecting dust to pay for somethings since I went through my receipt book (I have a 3 ring binder with receipts for everything I purchase for the car) and totaled up everything I have bought so far and it totaled out to $27,549.61

That doesn't include the cost of parts I bought for the previous setup, since when I sold the old parts I send the buyer the origional receipts from when I bought them for their records if they keep any.
Also, this doesn't include the cost of the car and a few other things. So I'm pretty sure i'm $30k deep into this heap. I hope all of the money I've spent and will continue to spend until its finished is worth it all and pays off with a stack of time slips with single digit results.

ID 2000cc Injectors came in today and I got them installed to see if I would have to change the fuel feed & return lines any. Of course, they will have to be changed/modified. I'll put a 120 degree fitting on the filter which will give me the angle I need to get the hose under the TB and a 90 degree on the end that goes to the rail to replace the 45. Since I already have a 90 on one end I'll just swap the hose around and remove the 45 and put the 120 there.

IMG_20130306_180750_zps200cf212.jpg

Also the return line will have to be lengthen, I have plenty of left over -6 from doing my trans cooler lines.

As always, just waiting on more parts to arrive so I can finish something.

weather was finally decent while I was off work so I was able to put in some time on the Talon.

I finally got the torque converter bolted up. I forgot to drill out the holes on the Kiggly flexplate for the larger ARP converter bolts. So doing this with the trans in the car was a PITA if you can imagine. I also was having a hell of a time getting the crank bolt off so I could replace the leaking main seal and install some new OEM parts for the crank that I bought (new crank disk and timing belt gear). I ended up buying a craftsman 33gal air compressor and a IR impact. That got it off LOL.

I got the Fluidamper pulley installed along with the ARP crank and pulley bolts installed along with the new gates timing belt. I finished up with the Jays Racing Alt relocation kit and got all of that on. I redone the fuel rail feed & return lines since they were too sort for the new manifold and I didn't like how they went over the top of it. I got the Radiator feed redone and got the AN lines made up for it. Also Got both driveshafts back in and the car is ready to go onto the ground.

I ran into an issue with the oil feed and return lines that I had custom made through ATP. I need to figure out the bolt size for the oil return on a garrett GT30 series turbo. I tried calling FP but they were closed by the time I called them. I've got everything for my coolant lines, just waiting on them to come in. I also ordered a JMFab oil catch can (one that goes in the corner and mounts to where the wiper motor was) and $500 worth of new OEM bolts, nuts, and washers from JNZtuning. I've got everything bolt, nut, and washer to replace everything when I pull the rear subframe and start on it next.

Just waiting on Frontline Fab to send me the diff cover, transfer case brace, and driveshaft loop I ordered.
