92 trans in a 90 tsi which shifter bracket to use??

I swapped a 92 tsi trans into my 90 tsi, I installed a shifter and shifter cables from a 93 tsi. I'm using the shifter bracket from the 90 trans. The gears feel like they have to be forced in, they all go into gear but its not easy to shift. Do I need a 91-up shifter bracket or the one I have??

Are you sure the trans was good when you got it? I would use the bracket/cable/shifter all from the same year. Luckily, the bracket is pretty easy to change. I put a 90 trans in my 91 without changing anything.
