1G 92 awd tsi bell housing crack, need advise

Hello DSM'ers,
My buddy and I were tearing out the tranny (among other things) and we noticed this crack on the bell housing. Assuming its aluminum.. I'm thinking we should try aluminum welding it. Just wondering if anyone has any experience in this area. Ever done welding like this? Any replies are appreciated.

You can try to weld it, but it will probably crack again.

Find someone local with lots of experience welding aluminum or talk to guys that do welding in your area, your bound to find a shop or two, worst case you will need to get another bell housing.

I had my old fwd one welded held up great for years.

I had mine TIG welded by a friend on the inside and outside of the bell housing and its holding up.
