I'm getting a 92 6 bolt off my friend to put into my 90 gsx. Is there anything else I'm going to need to be done to swap it in?

I'm going to be using my head off my car since the motor I'm getting off him has a bad head, so I won't have to worry about the CAS. So is there anything else that will need changed to swap his block into my car?

Other than the air-cooled OFH, I can't think of any major differences. If your using your 92 head on the block, it should be cake to install.

There is nothing to worry about in this swap. A 6-bolt is a 6-bolt. The issue with the '90 models is mostly in the electronics. Reuse the throttle body (for the sensors), coil pack, power transistor, and CAS from the '90 and it will be a direct swap in that regard. Yes, the external oil cooler is unique but that becomes a simple matter of swapping the oil filter housing to the new block.

Make sure you use the correct flywheel and roll stop brackets as well and you'll be set.

Thanks for the reply man! :) I got the new block torn apart and found that a valve broke off and cylinder 3 has a huge hole in it.. FML :( so I have to rebuild this block now too. But my friend has a set of brand new 6 bolt rods ad pistons I'm going to use with acl bearings so I guess it's not the end of the world.
