This is my Zombie car. It was dead for years, sitting in halfway buried in the dirt, everybody was afraid of it, they had no idea what it could become, so they left it alone, untouched for years. It had a blown motor due to a bad oil pump, I wanted to save it, give it new meaning than a home for rodents.

Goals;
ATLEAST 400hp, if I get more out of it, I will. I have a stock block so I'd like to see how much I can push it.
I plan to run it on the track and I'd like to see 11's.

Mods;
Either I have these already or I will.
Stock bottom end
Jusmx141 16G (Going to push this as far as I can)
Balance shafts eliminated
FIC 1050cc Low Impedance injectors

Back in it's glory years, it had looked like this.

I drove six hours away, and picked it up from a friend, with price undisclosed in this post.....
:p
Here are pictures upon it's initial discovery.

Trying to clean up the rear end from my Talon.

I decided right away I wanted to eliminate the 4WS so I took my DSM rear end and put it in. I also wanted 5 lug :)

RIP Lucy, I miss you lots :(

This car had no gas tank in it, as opposed to trying to source out a tank and sending unit, I got one from summit racing, I feel this would be the easiest solution to my problem instead of purchasing an already junk tank with Wisconsin cancer on it...
226857_10150198299647556_541367555_6837209_3978230_n.jpg

ARPs ordered and a core head I had sitting around.

I BOLTED the DSM front subframe up to the Galant VR4 Chassis, I had no idea if the whole subframe would fit, but it did, so incase anyone needs to know.. yes. it does work.

Steelies and everything.

Worked on spraying the rest of the bay now, it's halfassed but it turned out okay, I'm not a big paint guy.

Finally bolted in.

I took off the oilpan on my shortblock engine that I had in my TSI, everything looked GORGEOUS.

Found this in my oilpan, put it on a magnet, decided it was aluminum, only aluminum in the engine is in the head, so I wrote it off because I have a new head anyways.

Next update, engine will be in car.

Catcha later!

Nice Scott, I didn't realize you had gotten into a GVR4. The little time I've wrenched on them I came to the conclusion that I couldn't ever be the owner of one, doing anything on them seemed like a PITA compared to anything I've done to my DSM.

Nice pick up, you should pull all that sound deading crap off the engine bay firewall, all its good for it soaking up dirt and grease. Can we expect to see it at the SO next year?

:dsm:

It'll definately be at the shootout this year!

The sound deadening crap IS off, but I didn't bother to respray the back of it. Too lazy, it should look better once it's all sprayed down.

Hahahaha.. ####in purple purple purple (points at crank) ### ROFL.

Anyways. You sound like a farmer. That is all. ;)

man i want a VR4.

Thats a badass boost gauge! does it work?? LOL

Just wait til you get the sweetness Timer!!!

ive always loved vr4s
also love synchro passats..

Keep up the good work

ALSO is that a cressida i see back there?

nice build!
Just wanted to point out: that aluminum part you have found. In my opinion it was one of the rivets holding the buffle in the valvecover.

It's not in the car, I lied.

Strictly Import Motorsports did an awesome job on my head. I'm extremely happy with it. They have insane crazy prices, and do good work. They have excellent communication and I don't think I'd get a head rebuilt anywhere else.

You can check out the head rebuilds here!
DSM Race Heads

Anyways, right now I'm waiting on stupid things like cam gear bolts and yeah. Haha.

Whatever, then I can time it and put it in....
