Resolved 90 EPROM ECU?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Incorrect. Not all 90 turbo ECU's are EPROM, just like not all 91-94 turbo ECU's are EPROM.

^^^^^^^^^This!!

But op, you should get out your ECU, open it up, and see if it's an EPROM.

EPROM ECU just makes it easier to either go with a chip, or DSMLink.

Really? Guess the search function should be modified! :D

The two main threads that came uo for the 90 to 91+ swao for me was the ones saying that you had to change the tr unit and such.

No when I searched the 91+ cars using the 90 ecu's the pin swap came up so I thought it was different.

Can anyone else confirm this?^^

Great thanks guys.

OP so basically grab any 1g eprom. just make dure if its the 91+ going int your car to s-ap pins 6-14 at the ecu. There is a writeup somewhere on here about how to swap the pins.

You have to swap 6&14 to get the car to run properly. A small board must be added to a 91-94,ecu for the tach to work properly in a 90.

Keydiver isn't making the tach adapters anymore but there may still be some floating around. (I have a couple left) It's the simplest way to deal with the incompatibility between the 90 gauge cluster and the 91+ ECUs.

If you want you tach to work right it is more involved than swapping pin 6 and 14.

Donnie explain a little.more ###.

We.swapped a 94 ecu into my car yesterday and it ran fine. Even got a tach signal they were just a bit off.

Steve so I was right in mu earlier post about having to swap the tr units etc.

Bleh! I thought it was gonna be easy. :(

Steve you should really do a write up on this..Everytime I see this come up..It's always swap those pins..Unless I forget to recheck the thread.

:banghead: I've done many write ups on this. Please start paying attention :aha:

Just remember you must swap 6 and 14 whenever you mix 90 and 91+ and 90 cars need tach work with 91+ ECUs.
