It's been a long time since I first came here to the site, and I'm always learning more about DSMs (just like how I've always been).

However, after solving personal problems, I'm getting another DSM 🄳 however it's going to be an Auto (shamešŸ˜”, but it's cheap, so, whatever) but this time, since I need it to run before it's shipped to the US, I'm working on a plan to swap the engine.

Enter, The 6G75.

This is Mitsubishi's reliable (afaik) V6. It is a 3.8L V6 engine, and I'm sure everyone knows about it.

It is the same orientation as the usual 420A (and Evo 4-9 4G63s), however, running to find the mounts and transmission has been rather complicated.

Since I'm going to run a manual 1.8 trans from the Mirage (1997-2002) with an adapter plate, as they're the strongest FWD Mitsu transmission (compared to the Honda B18s from the LS/GSR Teggys), I was wondering if I would need to modify the bracket mounting points for the N/T's chassis like the Evo swap (move transmission mount bracket up 6 inches).

Would I also need Dodge Avenger 2.5L V6 engine mounts? What transmission mount would I use for the Mirage 1.8 trans? What ECU would I run? (My answer has to be a Montero ECU) Could I survive alone on the stock OEM CV axles? Would I also need to work around the Eclipse electronics to work with the V6? Would I have to use a 3G shifter cable + shifter base?

I know I would have to do the manual conversion for the 2G. But I'm asking this so I can know more. I just need to replace the 420A and the faulty auto trans with a 6G75 and a 1.8 4G93 manual trans so I can get this sorted out for Florida until I can get the AWD swap as intended.

You would be the first one on the site to attempt this swap. I dont think you will find any technical information you need

You might be better off trying to find parts from a sebring or avenger, or try those forums to find your answer

That's true, yes.

I have done research that Dodge Avengers are similar when it comes to N/T DSMs. As for Mirage 1.8 transmissions, I'd have to find out and see if I can use the Mirage trans mount.

I have found the Dodge Avenger mounts for a really good price. These include the engine and trans mounts, but I am not sure if these were sourced from an automatic Avenger.

Basically every question you asked is answered by having the car and the engine in front of you, and doing what it takes to put them together. All the theory in the world is useless when it comes to swaps that haven’t been done before. I’d be cautious about using a transmission from a 1.8L Mirage behind a high output 3.8L V6 (if it even bolts up), and try to use the OEM 6 speed instead. Wiring will be the worst part, and you’ll mostly be on your own since very few people mess with 6G75 electronics. Someone told me long ago ā€œlet the engineers do the engineeringā€ - have a complete setup in front of you and reuse everything that you can, that’s my advice.

Correct. I'd need to get that sorted out. I'm getting another vehicle soon so I can buy the motor off of possibly an Endeavor (non-MIVEC) or a 4G Eclipse (MIVEC). I wouldn't worry about the transmission. Puerto Ricans have ran 1.8L Mirage trans on these babies but they don't bolt up unless an adapter plate is used. Last but not least, I can probably figure out the wiring if I do plan to use a Montero ECU, but then again, going standalone would be a way better idea.

I'd suggest looking up "6g75 dodge avenger" on Google. A member did an entire swap on an Avenger with a manual from a 90s Daytona. You should have a lot of similarities.

That's what I did. And Daytona trans? You meant the A543 trans? Are you sure a Chrysler trans can handle a 3.8L?

Thank you, Steve. I've already looked into this thread. I wasn't sure if I could use the Avenger 2.5 auto trans mounts with a manual trans.

Yes. The A543 is a very stout transmission. The A543 I have in my 3.0T has A568 internals in it. The A568 was used in the turbo Dodges in the late 80s early 90s. They can take some abuse. The other option is go with a trans out of a 3G 3.0 Eclipse or Stratus. This will require cutting and boxing in your frame rail because it is a bigger trans dimensionally. Many people forego this option for the A543.

That is the build I'm talking about that Steve referenced. If you find his build before he went back to an automatic, you'll find everything you'll need to make things work. Also check here. Club3G tends to muddy the waters, but a lot of good info is here
