Some of you may have know or remember that I had problem with a 7 bolt that came with the car when I brought it, well after about 3 spun bearings I brought another 7 bolt and drop it in. Well the car has been a joy to drive for about 6-7 months, until it crank walk on me about a week ago (“crank walk is a myth doest happen as often as people think) people kill me with that:rolleyes:……..anyway, my question is I have ordered a “JDM 6 bolt cyclone from Canada” with 45.000 miles on it. Should I replace all the bearing in the motor before placing it in the car? Of if it isn’t broke don’t fix it? And what else other the obvious (timing belt, water pump, plugs & wires) should be changed before in placed in the car?

Thanks

Well. I would put new timing belt components on it now since its nearing the 60k interval. Probably would be a good idea to replace the water pump also for peace of mind. I see in your profile you have the supporting mods to crank up that 16g so i would also put some arp headstuds in it since you will need them, and will already have it tore down for the timing belt.I also saw that you have a afpr on your wishlist. That would be the next thing i get if i were you. Other than that i would say happy boosting:thumb:

I would take a look at the bearings. Mine looked new except for the high pressure fuel pump throwing gas in the oil. The high pressure fuel pump ruin my jdm motor.. I would get a afpr from fuelab kit from extremepsi if you dont have one yet and are on a budget. I am rebuilding my motor because of the 255 hp putting in too much gas. The motor should be good. Did you get the yellow top injectors and big 16g? My friend got a jdm swap that had hks cams and a ported and polished head. It was a S15 motor.

Yea I have the B16g, was even thinking of going up to 20g with the new motor, but I'm not sure...have really push the 16g to see what it can really do. I have set at 15 psi now.
I'm going to order the 660 injector and afpr this week.

Thanks the help guys

At a minimum I would throw a new timing belt, and head gasket along with some ARP studs before putting the motor in.
And possiblya new set of bearings in it just to be safe.

How did a HP fuel pump flood your motor? There no whre it can put fuel in teh car except through the injectors and then it would be a bad injector or a bad tune to cause there to be too much fuel...plus the pump only puts out the pressure you set to AFPR to, unless you were over running the stock FPR and still teh injectors should hold the gas back until there told to open. I'm not trying to call you out, but when you get that motor back in you need to start checking the things i mentioned or you'll be back in there again doing the same job before too much time.
