ok i got a couple questions about me doing a 6 bolt swap on a 96 talon awd i couldn't find this after i searched so since im the dreaded "newbie" i have to post here. I was building a 92 six bolt fwd. I have a fully built motor for it. I came across a great deal on a 96 talon awd, it needed a clutch though. So instead of using the 7bolt i figured i already have this fully built 6 bolt that i could swap. so i have to use the six bolt flywheel but the clutch is what is confusing me? do i have to use a 2g awd setup or would a 1g awd setup work too, or are they both the same? i read up on this swap at some other sites like magnus and it seems to be pretty simple that is the only question i have! thanks

if thats the case then why are some of the companies selling twin disc setups but only for the 2g? i thought they were all the same but was unsure

If you're specifically looking at twin disc clutches, you shouldn't have a problem finding the one you need. Some websites list them for 1g/2g, but that's almost always an incorrect listing. I've just been looking at the twin disc setups and have had no problem finding them (and properly labeled...6 bolt vs. 7 bolt).

The only other thing is if you are looking into buying one, I know some of them come as a clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel package. So make sure you get the right one for your application.

so will i need a 6 bolt awd flywheel right? Is the awd and fwd six bolt flywheel different? then i can just use any clutch right?

Since you're swapping your built '92 6 bolt motor into your '96 AWD Talon, then yes, you'll need a flywheel for a 6 bolt AWD car.

What do you mean by this? Is it different from what?

Yes, you can use any clutch made for a DSM (since they work for '90 - '99).

.

i get it now....but before i meant was the six bolt flywheel the same for both fwd and awd cars? i understand now the flywheels are different but the clutch will work with any dsm weather it be six or seven bolt, fwd or awd.....thanks!
