-turbo refresh
-intake and exhaust tract deburring
-new coolant replacement hose for my adapter to the VW scirocco rad.
-counterweight full removal to clear coolant hose way better
-new bolts on the old Tbolt clamps.
-new battery leads, Alt and battery (5 year refresh of system)
-rewrapped downpipe (need to seal it)

Love your build man ,everything is looking good 👌notice your using a holset wastegate actuator, how do you like it ?
I like it! 18psi acutator that justin put on for me. I am using ecu boost and set it for 25psi and no issues
 
Timing tensioner pin walked out. I had to redo a bunch of stuff. Head was redone, freshened up parts. It's back on the road, currently seeing 46lbs min of airflow.

I had get a used timing bracket mount and had to make new aluminum bronze bushings, because things are just obsolete now. I restored the entire mount assembly.

Spring is here :)

Put the summer wheels and tires on,
Added in the #6 biggest meth jet from Snow. Took it for a spin, scared myself and put it away.

What hood vent is that? I've been trying to find some of the old CarbonTrix ones but haven't had any luck.
 
Heard a noise. Yanked the trans. Found the issue. Trans #7 is cooked, had some grinding, then a lot of fluid leaking. It stayed together but im just over the weak manuals and this car and no abiliry to build em anymore. That ACT took a lot of pulls, a failed clutch fork explosion, 8 years of use and 450whp of power.

Now, i take my time on a winter refresh, clean up, and auto swap with full-time paddle-shifting. There is no how to for this territory, so im just gonna DO IT.

Ok i got the first auto trans out to check some things. Rear roll stop mount will need a tq arm on it to reach down to the subframe mount point. Pass motor mount will euther need a BF solutin, OR I will have to machine my own solution.

Messed with the 2g shifter, tore it down. Might work for my needs. If not ill get a 3g shifter.

I have to either mod my subframe or have a tubular one made up...ill seee. I know this will be a process.

I can't tell from the pics. What's stopping you? I could swear I've seen an auto in this chassis.
I have to go about 3" back, 1" up, and rotate and its sitting on the front waterpipe and the k member already. The shift tower us also on the frame rail, and the end of the case is sitting under the frame. The other end is already on the engine adapter plate. So its touching frame and motor already. And the motor mount..... LOL nowhere near the holes on frame.

This isnt even factoring in the lower roll stop bar and the NO WAY that will work. And rear motor mount id need custom made/fabed. Not doing that AND hacking up this chassis.


Its not gonna fit. I have found exactly ONE CAR, a white 4g drag car with an auto and only found a few pics and garuntee he hacked his K member apart and prolly the frame rail as well.


Im gonna keep this manual. The auto is a PIG and i can barely move it around. My back hurts from last night alone. Im (mi)Rage quitting on this.

Motor is out, on a stand. Easier to clean up the bay with it out. Car is ready to go to sleepmfor winter, or at least till i get the garage heated

Man, what a great thread to read through. You've put some serious blood, sweat, and tears into the ole summit and it's really bad ass.

Slam jam a new to you trans in, turn down the boost and enjoy! That thing is sick!

Thats the only option, sadly. Redo a trans, shim it up, and drive it less.

and i found another trans, a factory replacement with 15k on it! cleaned that up, redid the mounts, went to a 1g AWD trans mount and got it together:
 
boost activated IMRC for cyclone mani fitted up, using a new IWG and bracket i machined. works nicely.

trans is on, clutch fork looks decent. motor is in and hanging.

forum makes pics out of order lately, sorry about that.

heres some good pics of how i stabilized the motor on blocks and then worked the trans on and then lifted it up. worked awesome! 2 people to guide it, and in she went.

its off a 98-02 ish Subaru outback, flipped around 😂

-got the coil pack bracket done up.
-found, scaled, printed and put in some plug wire seperators (not shown installed)
-ordered new ngk 2g plug wires
-wrapped front part of downpipe
