ok I hope this post won't get me in trouble but what mods would I need to run a 50 trim to its full potencail on my stock motor on my 2g. Instead of dsm link I think I'm gonna go with a key driver its a little cheaper...sorry about lack of search I'm on my pda and don't have that option....thanks

Exactly! Spend the money you have on something you can utilize with both turbo setups and once you're ready for a new turbo, get one. :thumb: Oh, you mentioned you wanted to get a full exhaust. At your power level, the 2g exhaust manifold is not a restriction, so don't even worry about upgrade that yet. Concentrate on either getting a larger o2 housing or port out your existing one along with a larger downpipe and catback.

nicely said! if i were you i would just work your way up in baby steps.. 14b, 16g slowly buy your supporting mods.. learn as you go.. you will greatly appreciate it and you will gain a huge deal of knowledge, rather than buying the best stuff and not knowing what to do with it..

Well I want to buy the whole setup and be done with it. I don't want to buy things twice.

Check out my mod list. I should be good for 375~400 hp (20-24psi) depending on tune. I plan on getting a meth kit for the 22+ psi range (to keep knock down) :rocks:

When I first put on my PTE 5031E, I ran it on just wastegate pressure and it held 10psi rock solid. Stock fuel won't be able to handle even that much boost due to a 50-trim being significantly bigger than that puny T-25.

I run my 50-trim now with PTE 680cc injectors, Walbro 255hp fuel pump, Aeromotive AFPR, FMIC, 3" turboback exhaust, Dejon intake, S-AFC, Keydiver, logger, 6-puck clutch, and a unhacked 1G MAS at 18psi all day long. However, I am getting about 90% injector duty cycle at this stage and 18psi is barely in the 50-trim's efficiency range. Just look at my modlist in my profile.

Oh, and I am running my 50-trim on a stock 135k mile 1G 7-bolt with ARPs only...

So if you want to max out your 50-trim, my recommendation would be:
850cc injectors
Walbro 255 fuel pump
Aeromotive AFPR
DSMLink
FMIC
3" Turboback exhaust
Wideband O2 gauge
ARPs
Maintenance, Maintenance, MAINTENANCE!!!

I ran my 50 trim @ 20psi w/ the above setup on my stock 1G 7-bolt (no arp). No problems. I just took the engine apart to look on how it is wearing and @ 120k miles it was in perfect condition! :)

Is it a lot of work to put in arps do I have to tear everything apart.

Thanks for all the feedback..What im going to do is buy a header, ported o2 housing,3inch downpipe, high flow cat and 3 inch cat back and ill drive it with that this summer then ill start building the motor after im done buying all new stuff for it.

If you are dead set on getting a header I would stay away from the tubular design, I'm not even sure if you could get one to run your stock turbo that is decent. I would suggest going with the evo3 mani and o2 housing. Personally, I'd just spend the money your going to spend on a header and o2 sensor housing and just get your stock ones ported. Good luck

Nothing is wrong with them if you buy a high quality tubular manifold. The cheap one's will crack. Under hood temps also get a lot hotter with tubular manifolds, wrapping them with exhaust wrap will help.

You really need to read a lot more before embarking on a 50 trim o a stock 7 bolt. I say save that money for a new shortblock.

Or on a stock 6-bolt, don't believe the 6 bolt vs 7 bolt myths from the uninformed noobs.

the tubulars are really, really hot. the upper timing cover has slight parts where it has melted a bit and the driver side fan has changed color. i may throw wrapping but the manifolds with the heat shields are your best bet, unless you like the extra heat .

So do you think a ported stock manifold would be better than a tubular header?

I use a ported 2g manifold and after searching I discovered that most people around 3-400hp are still using that same manifold with no problems.

I already looked up porting the manifold but do i have to port the head to match?

The vfac doesn't describe it enough for me I don't know how much to port the manifold and the head.

Porting heads is usually left to the pros.

Here's a few threads on porting. Searching will turn up more results.

Ok but what do I use as a porting guide? To determine how much to take off.
