Hi.

this has maybe brought up 1000++ times, but i have searched and i haven´t got any clearer what would work actually. i´m gonna buy a evo 3 and thinking about strokeing the engine or put in a 4g64 block with the evo head. i have seen that many 64 engines have the timing belt on the right side in the engine bay. the evo have it on the left. i suppose that would be a problem? or do i need it from a older eclipse? from what models can i use the 64?

i have also found a 64 crank from a eclipse 2000-2005 would it fit a evo 3 engine? again the "problem" about the timing belt is on the wrong side

okey. so as long as i go with a 4g64 from 90-99 it woill work? not over -99 then? just to clarify it

i have read that the 4g64 engine does also comes in 6 bolt version. does anyone knows if the 4g63 6 bolt conrods will fit a 6 bolt 4g64 crank?

Stick with 90-99 4g motors. Evo 4-9 use a 4g63 that is flipped 180*.

I have found a eclipse gs 2.4 -98 engine here in sweden now but i don´t know just yet if it is a Doch or Soch head. but this enigne would work fine in a evo 3 then? how do i know which main bearings it uses? for example thrust washers, or did it come 97 and up?

Does anyone knowd if i can use the 4g63 spark plugs on a 4g64 with dohc head swap?

If your doing a 4g64 bottom end and keeping the stock head the spark plugs wont change,

The evo cranks do work and have been used before so its not an issue there. rods and pistons are also able to be used from an evo,

i´m going with the 4g64 bottom and a eclipse 4g63 Dohc head.
then the plugs wont change in version, just may need different heat range depending what you do

Just a friendly bit of adive you should use it aswell as the evo 8-9 cranks are flipped but they have been used alot in our engines, you would know this if you had used the search function haha.

Mine was a simple google search. I haven't owned a dsm in 6 years and am recently starting to get back to my roots. What I know is what has been covered while I was here. Evo cranks are a new one to me, evo pistons has been around when I was here along with evo rods. Thanks for the heads up though.
