425-450 hp goal( bastard 20g, hx35?)

As the title states im looking for 425-450 hp for my gst. I want a turbo that has a little lag to help with wheel spin.

Im trying to make this much power without e85(cant get it around here), stock block, with all supporting mods( arp studs and cams for the head)

I know the hx35 might spool a little quicker, i just wanted your inputs.

will the stock 7 bolt bottom end handle 450hp??
if you want lag.. the 20g but the holset is said to be a beast!

well, in most cases this is known to be around the limits of what a stock 6 bolt can hold (the 7 bolt is said to be about 50 horses less on holding capability), but many people have proven them to hold much much more, or at least dyno them making much more... the real question is how long will it hold together pushing those numbers,,, the thing is you never know.. one of the main things that causes engines to throw rods is that over time the stock rod bolts stretch out causing that to be a weak point where the rod will either let go or create enough clearnace to spin a rod bearing.
 
yeah thats a nice turbo, just more money then what im looking to spend. if you figure you can get a good hx35 for around 550 brand new with the 200 dollar bep housing, thats way cheaper than any fp turbo.
 
Yeah i've already decided on either the hx35 or bastard 20g, something along those lines. holsets you can get cheap and there good, reliable, and make good power with a quick spool to top it off.

I mean c'mon they run like 30 psi on cummins trucks with like 200k on them! and still are in good condition!

You're looking at more like $1,000-1,200 for a TDO6 20G brand new. Are you planning on going with an internal or external wastegate?
 
Sacrifice a few hundred RPM's of spool, and just run an HX35 with the stock 12cm housing. It's cheaper to get a cheap t3 manifold than to get the bolton housing, and you'll be able to get more hp out of it. The low end hp will suck compared to the bolton though.

The bolton housing can be a PITA if you don't run a spacer between the manifold and the head since the turbo is so close (or touching) the engine block -- no clearance with the lower radiator hose, you need to beat the crap out of the water pipe, etc. The clearance issues are MUCH worse on a 2G than a 1G since the block comes out for the extra bellhousing bolt, and it seems that the water pipe is positioned closer yet to the turbo (even with a 1G water pipe).
 
This was the same question i had awhile back. I guess people go with the bep because of 1, they can use their stock o2, and they can also use their stock mani. Plus if you do have a awd..not me i have a gst....havng the faster spool up would be nice. As for a fwd a laggy turbo that will still produce a good amount of top end is a good thing, especially if you have the head mods to be able to rev up higher in the rpm band....jmo
